And the #women said: “We rise together, we care for our planet, we change the world”.??? ?? ?? This quote now rises in a banner in #SouthSudan, in the newly built Women’s Innovation Hub in IDP Camp #Bentiu. The Women’s Innovation Hub is the most recent women and girls’ community center set up in the Women's Participation Project framework. ?? Why is it important to have these kinds of venues in displacement sites? These are spaces where women and girls can gather, feel #comfortable and enjoy the freedom to express themselves without the fear of judgment or harm. Through the Women's Participation Project, IOM-#CCCM implementing teams have worked to build and support community centers for displaced women and girls in different camps and camp-like settings. The creation of these spaces has effectively impacted the provision of trainings, workshops, awareness sessions, and other #communityled activities. These community centers for women and girls enable access to information, resources and capacity development that reduce the risk of gender base violence and enhance their integration into #communitylife. They also facilitate access to the leadership and participation skills and services that promote women and girls' #empowerment. Today we celebrate the creation of South Sudan's Women’s Innovation Hub but also remember the creation of so many other women community and recreational centers, from #Bangladesh to #Yemen, that have fostered women and girls’ community coexistence, places for self-expression, and for support from one another. ?? ... At RAAGSAN Consulting, we are dedicated to addressing critical issues related to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). Our latest impact report showcases our expertise in #migration, #displacement, and market assessments. Here's a glimpse of our recent project, commissioned under the Scaling Solutions in Somalia Project: In collaboration with Untethered Impact, we conducted a #research and human-centered design (HCD) project to understand the challenges faced by internally displaced women running businesses in #Baidoa and Barwaaqo. This project, implemented by the Danwadaag Durable Solutions Consortium, BRCiS, Tethered Up, and ReDSS, was financially supported by USAID Somalia. The study utilized an #iterative and #adaptive approach, integrating #learnings from each phase to ensure a comprehensive and #participatory exploration. Combining #qualitative analysis with descriptive statistics and geospatial mapping, we aimed to answer a compelling question: How can we harness the flows of goods, services, money, people, and information between rural and urban areas to enrich livelihood opportunities and enhance economic resilience? The objectives included; ? Urban-Rural Connections: We examined the dynamics and roles of various actors supporting these linkages, focusing on the movement of goods, services, money, people, and information. ? Efficient and Cost-Effective Livelihood Models for Women: Our research explored pathways to create practical, scalable livelihood models that are efficient and cost-effective for women in Displacement-Affected Communities (DACs). ? Women’s Daily Lives and Activities: We delved into the lives and livelihoods of internally displaced women in selected Self-Help Groups (SHGs), examining their engagement with market actors and rural linkages, and how these interactions shape their economic and social realities. Through this project, @RAAGSAN Consulting provided actionable #insights and #strategies to support the economic #resilience and growth of displacement-affected communities. With our deep #contextual knowledge and #expertise in the region, Raagsan Consulting is uniquely positioned to address the complex challenges and opportunities in #Somalia.

Women in Ethiopia are integral to the economy, comprising 56.8% of the labor force. Despite their significant contribution in the economy, they face systemic barriers like unequal distribution of unpaid care work (UCW). This responsibility falls disproportionately on women due to societal norms. Women are primarily responsible for household chores and care-giving, limiting their participation in economic activities. Social norms also reinforce tasks like cooking and care-giving as exclusively female responsibilities, perpetuating inequality. To promote women's economic empowerment, we should advocate for gender-transformative labor policies that recognize and reduce the burden of UCW by: - Challenging gender stereotypes and norms through awareness and reforms. - Ensuring equal access to education and opportunities for women to participate fully in the labor market. Together with Addis Powerhouse, Includovate and WISE, let's work towards gender equality in labor policies for sustainable economic growth in Ethiopia! According to UN Women and Fondazione Aurora, the digital gender gap in Kenya is estimated at 43%, with women facing barriers such as limited access to the internet and lower digital literacy compared to men. Whereas in Ethiopia, only 11% of women have digital access compared to 20% of men. As our Country Director, Wanjiru Gathigi - Kibugi notes, the Digital Bridge project will play an integral role in closing the gap and ensuring that underserved and disadvantaged youth in Kenya and Ethiopia gain the skills to thrive in an inclusive digital economy. Stay tuned for more updates on this project! #DigitalInclusion #WiDEFGlobal #DigitalBridge #DOTYouth #BridgingtheDigitalDivide #DOTKenya #DOTEthiopia Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) Ethiopia

Today, we join the ILO and communities worldwide in celebrating the essential role of care and support in building resilient, gender-responsive societies. At One to One, we see firsthand how investing in local women as community health workers - our Mentor Mothers - brings life-saving care to South Africa’s most underserved areas. Our Mentor Mothers work at the heart of the “care economy,” providing critical healthcare and support to vulnerable mothers and children, while challenging gender norms and expanding opportunities for women in the workforce. Let’s recognize and support care work as essential to our shared future. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive society that values care and empowers those who provide it. #InternationalDayOfCareAndSupport #CareEconomy #OneToOneAfrica #GenderEquality #MentorMothers #SouthAfrica #EasternCape #development #SDG

Connecting with other women: Gatherings allow women to connect with others who share similar interests and experiences, creating new friendships and strengthening existing ones. Sharing problems: They create a safe space where women can share their problems and challenges, providing support, advice, and empathy. Learning from each other: Women's gatherings often include activities such as workshops, discussions, or presentations, providing an opportunity for women to learn from each other and expand their knowledge. Boosting self-esteem: Women gatherings can help women to feel valued and appreciated, boosting their self-esteem and confidence. In the last few years, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched a co-working space in Kyrgyzstan called Women Creative Labs. In collaboration with NGOs and municipal governments, these labs give women the opportunities and resources to develop their creative businesses. At the same time, gender stereotypes are challenged, women’s roles in their families and communities are elevated, and their confidence levels increase as they enter the workforce. So far, more than 300 women have joined the labs as residents, and over 1,000 women joined the network at different locations. This model is scalable and could enable other local grassroots organizations to adapt it to their specific needs and to attain financial sustainability simultaneously. ?? Join us at Includovate as we tackle gender disparities in unpaid care work! Did you know that discriminatory norms in Ethiopia compound women's opportunities, linking paid work to masculinity and caregiving to femininity? Men often view domestic work as “helping women” rather than a shared responsibility. Education doesn't eliminate these disparities. Even in educated households, women spend over 60% of their time on housework and childcare. What do you think is the solution, then? Let us know how we can shift social norms in the comments! ?? #GenderEquality #UnpaidCareWork #IncludovateImpact ??? ??Check out what we do at Includovate - Programmes & Research - Includovate: https://lnkd.in/g_Q5kxzR ??
