I'm here at a #CSW69 event hosted by the Office of the Women Rights Advisor to the President, in partnership with Kidogo and Data2X, United Nations Foundation where we’re diving into the importance of care work as a pathway to alleviating poverty in Africa. WomenLift Health Global Fellow Lanice C. Williams, M.S., CHES? gave opening remarks and introduced Data 2x’s report on the role of time use data in policy making. Unpaid care work, largely done by women and girls, sustains economies but limits their opportunities. Time use data is vital for addressing these inequalities, informing policies to redistribute care work, reduce women’s workloads, and promote economic growth.
