What an incredible Best Practices Sharing and Learning #Forum! As a pediatrician, I am always thrilled to see progress in children's, adolescent girls, and young women's health. This week, at the inaugural USAID Nuru Ya Mtoto Project forum in beautiful #Kisumu, that excitement reached new heights. Dr. Gregory Ganda, Kisumu County Executive Committee Member, representing Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong'o, kicked off our event with passion. His insights on Kisumu's community health innovations left us all inspired and ready to learn. The energy in the sessions and at the showcases was palpable! The knowledge sharing impressed me, as well as my fellow PATH Kenya board members, the PATH Board Vice Chair, and all of the delegates. USAID Kenya's Felicia Price's update was a ray of hope: 92,000+ lives touched, 96.3% viral suppression, and 43,500+ young women empowered through the PEPFAR DREAMS initiative. These are not just numbers; they are #stories of #resilience and #hope. The trust PATH-#Kenya is bestowed on leading the USAID-funded project is more than an honor; it is a calling. Every child and every family transformed pushes us to do more and better. We are not just fighting HIV; we are building a future where every child in Western Kenya can thrive. To everyone who joined us, #Thankyou. Together, we are not just changing statistics; we are #saving #lives. Let us keep this #momentum going! #HIVBestPractices, #BestPracticeForum, #PATH4UHC Dr. Jacqueline Kitulu, MD, MBA, OGW, FCMA, Carolyne Njuguna, Dr.Diana Kemunto, Jackson T., Fred Were, Earnest Muyunda, Sibusiso Hlatjwako, Ministry of Health, Kenya,

Last year, the USAID Healthy Behaviors Activity – led by #FHI360 in #Ethiopia – conducted a large, 7,906-person baseline survey exploring reproductive, newborn, maternal, child, and adolescent (#RMNCH+A) health as well as malaria behaviors and their determinants. The survey took place in the Activity’s key regions of Amhara, Oromia, Central Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, Gambella, Benishangul-Gumuz, and Dire Dawa. To inform the Activity’s SBC strategy and broader SBC programming in Ethiopia, a doer/non-doer analysis was conducted, in partnership with #Fraym to identify the determinants most critical for uptake of priority behaviors. We’re excited to share some of the findings, below. And for those who are interested, you can look at findings briefers for all priority behaviors, organized by life stage, at https://lnkd.in/eVw74_br Henock Gezahegn Dr. Guda Alemayehu Tenaw Zewdie Desta Kebede Jamie Greenberg Rose Wilder Claire Gillum Kenneth Davis Quinn Lewis #SBCatFHI360 #research #RU #evidenceinformedprogramming #FHI360 #Fraym

The disheartening reality that, even in modern times, #women still encounter situations where they must seek permission from their husbands to seek medical assistance when they fall ill is not just UNACCEPTABLE but a gross violation of women's Rights! On a separate note, we MUST demand decisive ACTION and ACCOUNTABILITY from leaders across the continent - Heads of States, Ministers of Finance, Ministers of Health, and parliamentary bodies - to prioritize the allocation of #resources towards enhancing #research and development capabilities within their respective nations. This is particularly essential for fostering sustainable progress in healthcare delivery and ensuring equitable #access to medical services for ALL individuals, regardless of gender. Thank you Ms. Joy Phumaphi, Executive Secretary of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) for articulating this in a succinct way! We MUST call out things as they are. ?? Proud to join PMNCH and all the advocates around the world who are building partnerships to reduce maternal and child mortality and truly achieve #healthforall through #UHC. The #LivesInTheBalance event at WHA reminded us of the persistent challenges, but also of the opportunities when political will, the skills of health workers, especially #midwives, and women's voices are leveraged to make change. The adoption of the #WHA77 resolution to accelerate progress on #maternal and #child mortality to achieve SDG targets 3.1 and 3.2 is just a start. Check out the remarks and lessons learned from some of the political leaders supporting this crucial work: https://lnkd.in/ebsA38ez

#EndFGM - On this International day of zero tolerance for female genital mutilation (FGM), did you know that girls today are one-third less likely to be subjected to FGM compared to 30 years ago? However, progress needs to accelerate to meet the global target of eliminating FGM by 2030. ? In 2024, nearly 4.4 million girls – more than 12,000 each day – are at risk of female genital mutilation worldwide. ? In Burkina Faso, Enabel worked hand in hand with communities, local women's associations, NGOs and ministries to optimize the awareness-raising strategy and eradicate the practice. ? ? ?? Today, on World Population Day, we highlight a critical issue: the challenges of a young population on health in West Africa. ?? With over 60% of the population under 25, West Africa is pivotal. This youth represents an incredible opportunity for development and innovation, but also a major challenge for health systems. ?? **Reproductive health and family planning**: Improving access to quality reproductive health services is essential to ensure that every young person can plan their future and realize their potential. ?? **Education and awareness**: Investing in health education and awareness can reduce the rates of communicable diseases, early pregnancies, and maternal mortality. ?? **Employment and empowerment**: Creating job opportunities and training programs for young people is vital for economic and social empowerment. By working together, we can turn these challenges into opportunities and build a healthier and more prosperous future for West Africa. ??? #WorldPopulationDay #HealthInAfrica #Youth #ReproductiveHealth #SustainableDevelopment #FamilyPlanning #Education #Empowerment Jhpiego Leslie Mancuso Debora Bossemeyer Anne Pfitzer United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) PAI FP2030 Deborah Dangay AMREF Partenariat de Ouagadougou Marie Ba Djenebou Diallo, PhD in Law Perri Sutton Kaleigh MacDaniels, MPA Ashley Jackson Siri Wood USAID Gahan Anderson, MPH, PMP Gathari Ndirangu Gichuhi Shani Turke ---
