The?Master of Arts by Research in Hybrid Arts (MARes)?is an advanced interdisciplinary program designed for individuals who aspire to explore the evolving intersections between art, science, and technology, through art-based research. Combining theory, hands-on practice, and collaborative innovation, the MARes program prepares students to engage with both contemporary and future challenges in the creative sector. MARes is a low-residency program involving a mix of distance education and brief periods of in-person learning, which means that most of the teaching is conducted online, with only one week of optional on-site presence required—the Winter School, which the student can also opt to attend online. The courses take place after the end of the standard working hours, and in addition, lectures are recorded and remain available on the platform for a specific time, enabling students of different time zones to attend these whenever it suits them. European XFEL at the #ScienceCityDay At a family festival on Saturday, 1 June, young and old alike can be whisked away into the wonderful world of science around the #Bahrenfeld campus opposite #Hamburg #Volkspark and the #Trabrennbahn – or simply enjoy an ice cream. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., science and research institutions, the Hamburg City Council and the Ministry of Science, Research, Equalities and Districts will be presenting the exciting future project #ScienceCityHamburgBahrenfeld to the public. The world's largest X-ray laser, the European XFEL, which starts on the Bahrenfeld campus, is part of the planned Science City. In the coming years, a district for innovation and technology transfer is to be created here, as well as a lively neighbourhood with flats and recreational spaces that will become a magnet for students, researchers and creative people from all over the world. Children are just as welcome as adults next Saturday. They can carry out experiments, talk to researchers, or simply have fun and enjoy a day full of experiences. “Among other things, VR goggles can be used to experience virtually how adventurous it is in our underground tunnels,” says Nicole Elleuche, Managing and Administrative Director of European XFEL. The European XFEL exhibition is located in building 702 in the west of the #DESY site. Among other things, there is free ice cream, which is innovatively produced using liquid nitrogen. Those with a head for heights can take a look down to the #accelerator tunnel and have the #research and #technology explained to them – and see where the X-ray light for the #Schenefeld research site comes from. Hands-on experiments build a bridge between everyday life and X-ray research: light can be scattered with diffraction gratings, similar to the way crystals or molecules scatter X-rays. To show how the researchers analyse their samples, everyone can create their own personal scattering pattern from their camera image and have it printed out. And for the little ones, there is a colouring book in which biomolecules, accelerators or the wild animals on the renaturalised research campus can be coloured in. The programme can be found at https://lnkd.in/e4wEFMgH.

Yet another edition of the teachers’ training course Future Inventors took place at the Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia. For three whole days teachers explored how the arts, aesthetic experience and embodied cognition can contribute to learning in STEM at school. It is since 2019 that we, at the Museum, research and experiment with new possibilities, test new grounds and challenge traditional teaching practice. We integrate digital art installations with inquiry-based science learning, we collaborate with artists to push the boundaries of experience and to create open-ended, inclusive learning. We invite a team of teachers from each school to join as we want those who teach science, technology, arts and music to work together, and to reason how -together- they can change their practice towards a more interdisciplinary approach. There is a lot to say about the intersection of science, the digital and the arts for the benefit of learning and the learners. Future Inventors, and the support of Fondazione Rocca, allowed us to give sense to the STEAM acronym through research and the design of a new approach. Next edition: 24-25-26 June.

Doubling its footprint and making room for more classroom and hands-on exhibition space, The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) recently announced that it will move from its current temporary location to a new, 34,000 SF location in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan in 2026. The new space will allow the museum to feature its popular interactive exhibitions, as well as add areas for classrooms,?early childhood?education, and presentations. Originally opened in 2012, MoMath is the first museum dedicated to mathematics in the United States, striving to enhance the public’s understanding and perception of mathematics, and highlighting the role of math in illuminating patterns and structures all around us. Zubatkin has been a trusted partner to MoMath since the institution’s founding. Working closely with the Museum’s leadership and exhibition teams, we supported the conceptualization and development of MoMath’s original space on Madison Square Park and are now overseeing the planning and construction of the temporary and new facilities.?
