Inaccurate forecasts - driven by an inflated pipeline and rooted in inconsistent buyer-facing activities. The one skill set that’s being grossly overlooked in Sales Enablement. It’s also a skill I’m confident those with experience in sales possess. Data driven decision making. If you were once in a sales role or even if you were a sales leader. You likely spent a lot of time discussing ICP and GTM strategy. Who to target. Why them. With which product. And of course how. You were probably even familiar with the 80/20 rule. You paid attention to your top accounts or markets. And you spent time in account mapping sessions looking over usage reports, historical spend, account saturation, etc. Just to decide who was going to be at the top of your call list. Enablement is not much different. The sellers you support become your customers. While you support every seller on the roster. You spend time to align your initiatives with that of the greater GTM team. What does the organization want to accomplish? Adoption is top of mind for a lot of teams currently. So, you look at the data to figure out what initiatives are needed. What are sellers struggling with? Why are they struggling with X? What is needed to improve X? Which process or product lacks adoption? What is the best way to structure an intervention? When is the right time to initiate an intervention? And how do we measure the impact? Taking all of this into consideration just to uncover your own priorities and objectives as an Enablement asset.
