Do you like trying out new IOLs? I had an opportunity to try out the SeeLens by Hanita Lenses Ltd., a 40 year old IOL company from Israel! ???? SeeLens is a hydrophobic, aspheric, single piece, square edge, monofocal IOL competing at the level of Acrysof SP, Tecnis, Nanex, Lucia and the like. In the Monofocal market, the latter IOLs have given each other a hard time over the years, trying to outshine and out perform their contemporaries with claims of low PCO, no glistening, high transparency, rotational stability and so on. But the question I ask myself whenever I implant a new IOL like this time and again is - Is there a perfect IOL? Are we tending towards it? The answer is always no. However, we are very close, not only in terms of innovation, but also in terms of stability, compliance and safety. ?? Accidental injection of ozurdex into the crystalline lens. Should we panic? Accidental injection of Ozurdex (dexamethasone intravitreal implant) into the lens rather than the vitreous is a rare but significant complication. This case, referred to us, clearly demonstrates that immediate panic is unnecessary. With careful monitoring, surgical intervention can often be safely delayed. If the lens capsule is penetrated, it may stabilize and develop fibrosis over time, reducing the risk of complications during future surgery. Meanwhile, the Ozurdex implant continues to release dexamethasone, which can be effective in reducing macular edema. This therapeutic effect supports a wait-and-see approach before deciding on surgery. In conclusion, while cataract formation is likely due to the implant’s location, immediate surgery may not be required as long as vision remains stable. However, if the patient experiences increasing visual disturbances or if the implant migrates, earlier surgical intervention may be necessary.

Talk about a blast from the past! We used our scherr tumico 22 from the 80's to check a tool path. This approach may seem antiquated in today's world that seems dominated by CAD/CAM programs, but offers a quick and simple way to check a toolpath by tracing the scaled image, in all this took around 3min to get scaled properly and traced onto the shadowgraph.
