May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we uplift the work of LGBTQ+ researchers affiliated with Syracuse University and their project aiming to understand the experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals living in New York, including their trauma exposure, mental health, and substance use. The researchers will ask LGBTQ+ people how trauma and other stressful experiences impacted their lives. Prospective participants will be asked to first complete a brief (5 min.) online survey containing demographic information (e.g., race/ethnicity, gender identity) and questions about stressful experiences. The survey is live here: https://lnkd.in/gDGUKPb9

Introduction to LGBTQ+ Studies: A Cross-disciplinary Approach (2022) - OA PDF: https://lnkd.in/gJzSyPwu This college textbook offers accessible, academically sound information on a wide range of LGBTQ+ topics. The 12 chapters cover LGBTQ+ history, culture, and Queer Theory, but also explore LGBTQ+ relationships, families, parenting, health, and education - as well as a separate chapter on how to conduct research on LGBTQ+ topics. Employing an intersectional analysis, the textbook highlights how sexuality and gender are simultaneously experienced and constructed through other structures of inequality and privilege, such as race and class. The text supports multiple learning styles by integrating visual elements, multimedia resources, discussion and project prompts, and resources for further research throughout the textbook. #LGBTQStudies #interdisciplinarity #QueerTheory #QueerHistory #FamiliesWeChoose #health #education #genderstudies
