AI entrepreneur and CTO/co-founder of Layer0, Ishan Anand, hosted a workshop for Wisconsin School of Business students to provide insights into accessible approaches to large language models (LLM). “The first day [of the workshop] covers the process of getting a computer to turn this word problem into a number problem. The second day is about, once we’ve mapped words into numbers, then what are the calculations we do to predict the right word?” - Ishan Anand ?? This two-day workshop was supported by Operations and Information Management professor, Enno Siemsen. Through utilizing Excel to understand the complexity of GPT-2, students were able to gain hands-on learning of LLMs and the work that must be done “under the hood” to make AI platforms as approachable as possible. 1 周Seeing students have those "aha" moments when they understand what's happening under the hood of these powerful AI systems was incredibly rewarding. Special thanks to Professor Enno Siemsen for the collaboration that made this possible. His guiding principle that our job was to break Clarke's Third Law (i.e. make advanced technology seem *less* like magic) was the perfect north star for the workshop.
