Believe it or not, life after incarceration can be more challenging than life behind bars. Everyone given a second chance should have access to the tools they need to make the most of it. This is why I've started volunteering with OPRC, a nonprofit dedicated to helping formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reintegrate into society. On Point Reentry Consortium (OPRC) offers a comprehensive support system that includes housing assistance, job training, employment opportunities, and mental health services. Their mission is to break the cycle of recidivism by providing the tools and resources necessary for a fresh start. Through mentorship, advocacy, and community support, OPRC provides individuals with the extra backing to rebuild their lives, restore their dignity, and contribute positively to their communities. If this cause is something you care about, too, please follow On Point Reentry Consortium (OPRC) and support this critical cause. Let's work together to create a more inclusive and compassionate society. ?? #SecondChances #ReEntry #CriminalJusticeReform #NonProfits #incarceration

In the end, it won’t be about how many advanced degrees you have, how many Epic certifications, or how expensive your car and clothes are. It’s about how you treated the most vulnerable. ???????? I still miss the days I spent working at Saint Clare's Health and Department of Children & Families in Sussex County, NJ. These were two of my favorite jobs. I loved the children. I loved helping teens fold their clothing and transfer it from garbage bags to beautiful donated duffle bags. I loved sharing gum, makeup, and toys from my goodie basket. A little smile on a very challenging day went a long way. ?? There are people who have so little. I chose to work in healthcare to dedicate my career to enhancing the lives of those most vulnerable: individuals with Alzheimer's, foster children, the homeless, and more. I volunteer for animal rescue and work on a farm where I give extra love and attention to newborns, sick animals in recovery, and cuddles to my favorite cow, Lucy. Everyone deserves to feel special, loved, and adored. We must slow down and remember those who aren’t “esteemed.” The ones who aren’t “elite.” If there is one quality in a person that completely turns me off, it’s thinking they are better than others. Stop! Please. Slow down, speak to your teams, and get to know people. All people. Not just the ones you find worthy. 2025 is a new year. A new chance to do better than we did last year. It is never too late to see the light and to make a bigger difference in the world. Blessings to all of my connections! Happy New Year! ???????? #nye #rethinkingpriorities #leadershipredefined

Your home address is a privilege. Not just your home. The address itself. Have you ever thought about that? I definitely had not, until my eyes were opened wide at Unfaulted's volunteer training. Every day, I take simple things for granted that people who age out of foster care may not have. One of those things is a home address, because a number of them end up homeless. Lack of shelter is a major issue, but so is lack of an address. How do you apply for jobs? Where do you receive government documents? How do you open a bank account? That's just the tip of the iceberg. Have you ever thought about how much your family provided a support system during college? How much of what you learned about job hunting / college / life in general came from them? Even if it didn't come from them, what are the odds you were introduced to the person that taught you through your family? That doesn't even touch the unimaginable trauma these individuals endured before and inside the system. Share this post to raise awareness. Support Unfaulted and like-minded organizations who help people who age out of the system.

Since the end of last year, I have been serving as a guest instructor at St. Mary's Food Bank - LIFT Program where I teach life skills to men and women who have a barrier to employment due to having made mistakes in their lives and ended up incarcerated. This experience has allowed me to meet many deserving people who have learned their lesson and are trying to get back on their feet and make a positive impact in the community and in most cases, in the lives of their children. It has given me a new understanding and a bit of empathy that I didn’t have before. Surprise… People make mistakes. Haven’t we all? Last week, Tracy Sanders and I were invited to visit a local prison where the Televerde Foundation provides workforce development opportunities and career pathways to incarcerated women. Their programs are key to successful reentry for these women. Without scripts or slides full of lessons to deliver, we simply talked from the heart and shared stories and experiences with a large room full of women preparing to reenter society. We also listened to many stories and stats that were mind-blowing. Did you know: ·?More than 60% of the 650,000 individuals released from prison every year will return to prison within 3 years. ·?More than 50% of women will remain unemployed one year after release. ·?57% of convicts are parents and 80% are mothers with school-age children. ·?Without interventions, 70% of these kids are doomed to continue the cycle of incarceration. People deserve a second chance to experience life. These re-entry programs are designed to assist them in effectively "re-entering" society, saving money, increasing employment opportunities, lowering the likelihood of re-offending, and improving public safety as well as breaking the cycle for their children. Thank you Televerde for allowing us to come out to meet the team. We are hooked on the impact we can make for these women and can’t wait to get started coaching and teaching with your team. #charity #501c3 #nonprofit #Givingback #sundtcares #concreteconstruction #buildingconstruction #transportationconstruction #industrialconstruction #renewableenergy

We'd like you to meet Sarah. We met during our recent consultation. Her name has been changed, and a voice actor used, but only to protect privacy. The words spoken are her words. Sarah is a young care leaver having been in care since being a toddler. She couldn't wait to get into the world, but then that describes most young people. Sarah found work in retail but it's mostly seasonal and she feels that being able to gain other skills are beyond reach. Sarah doesn't have her own home and stays with friends. Despite trying to pay her way, she often finds it tough to make ends meet and has found herself with growing debt. Her doctor recently diagnosed her with depression. Care leavers do receive support from the local authority, though the extend varies depending on the authority. There are charities who can sometimes help too. Sarah has simply fallen through the cracks and though a caseworker is trying to help, they have a large casework load. Sarah doesn't want to add more onto the casework but can't help feeling alone, unseen and unheard by the system which used to be there for her. Ignis Lodge would be able to help people like Sarah. By providing stability and security for a minimum of 6 months and up to a year. During this time, people would have direct access to wellbeing support, therapies and help with employment. The stepping stones to a happy, healthy, and independent life. Sarah was one of the 72% in our sample who told us that an organisation like Ignis Lodge could help right now. We need your help to be able to turn this into reality and help people like Sarah. Please visit our website www.ignislodge.co.uk to find out more along with details of how to get in touch with us. #bethechange #youth #care #veterans #socialmobility #skills #education #support #westmidlands #birmingham #coventry #blackcountry #community #growth #support #sponsorship #socialresponsibility #ignitingpotential #brighterfuture

Every individual deserves the opportunity for redemption, growth, and a second chance to contribute positively to society. Second Chance Month provides COABE an opportunity for education and advocacy to promote the successful reintegration of individuals who have been incarcerated back into our communities.?By supporting rehabilitation, reentry programs, and policies that remove barriers to successful reintegration, we can strengthen families, communities, and our nation as a whole. COABE recognizes the importance of providing access to education, employment, and support services to individuals seeking to rebuild their lives after incarceration and?through collaborative efforts among government agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses, faith-based institutions, and community members, we can create a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, breaking the cycle of incarceration and building a brighter future for generations to come. As Second Chance Month comes to a close, we urge all members of our organization and the broader community to join us in recognizing the dignity and potential of every individual, and in supporting initiatives that promote second chances, education, and workforce opportunities for all citizens.
