"I'm passionate about recognizing my team and colleagues, but how do we create a culture of appreciation throughout my organization?" This is what I was asked during a session on appreciation with employees at a company this week. In a nutshell, here is how I answered it. Btw, I'm sharing it with my network in case you are asked this, hopefully helping you not only answer it but create a culture of appreciation at your company. - Educate: The first step is to educate your workforce on why appreciation is important to them, their colleagues and the company. Explain to them what I call the 'superpowers' of appreciation. - Ownership: Explain the importance of getting everyone involved in appreciation, how it is a team sport, and how everyone needs to take responsibility and own it. Explain what I call the 'crowdsourcing approach' to appreciation. - See it. Say it. Appreciate it!: Explain how they can use my mantra of 'See it. Say it. Appreciate it!' to help everyone look for, action and deliver the appreciation feeling. You can read more on this in the blog I share in this post.
