A Haunted House for moms who pump at work????? ?? "Can’t you just pump in the bathroom?” ?? "No, we don’t have a fridge where you can store your breast milk.” ?? “You’re going to distract your coworkers if you pump at your desk.” ?? “You’ve got 10 mins, make it quick.” ?? "Oops, sorry didn’t realize you were pumping in here.” Halloween might be filled with fright, but the horrors working moms face are way scarier. If you’re returning to work from maternity leave and plan to pump, It’s important to understand your rights and the support your workplace is legally required to give you. I thought school holidays were hard enough to navigate, but when they become sick that’s a whole other ball game. As a default parent, taking dependant leave is more than just a necessity — it's a reflection of the invisible that goes into balancing work and family life. Juggling career responsibilities while being the primary caregiver can be challenging, but it's also a reminder of the importance of companies offering flexible, supportive policies. Being the default parent means wearing multiple hats. It involves sleepless nights, early mornings, and the load of making sure your little people are cared for. Dependant leave allows us to manage these responsibilities without compromising our professional growth. It’s time we acknowledge and advocate for more inclusive workplace policies that support all parents in their journey. #Parenting #WorkLifeBalance #Dependantleave #DefaultParent #InclusiveWorkplaces

Going through a tough week juggling a 4 year old along! It got me thinking how we all feel guilty on some/most days – spreading ourselves too thin. We feel we’re falling behind the curve at work & we’re missing precious moments with our family, more so with our children. This leads to burnout, guilt & basically stops us from being truly happy in our reality. ?This was a major driving factor for me 4 years back when I was pregnant to write a book on these aspects – I wanted myself & all around me to be free of these burdens. I didn’t want to be defined as a woman, a wife, a mother, a job holder – I just wanted to be me who wears different hats at different times at her own will. Most importantly I wanted myself & the others around me to know that life is not perfect & it will never be – there will always be some fire-fighting. The best we can do is build a support system around us to help in the grind. This has to be both in our personal and professional lives. Gone are the days when jobs were just 9 to 5 ??If work has become so integral today then it will have to share in the challenges of the personal part of the life too. Workforce is no longer just a collective of employees, we are starting to humanize each individual now & realize that each comes with their own set of challenges ????. As the Corporate World evolves, along with it evolves the people strategy of organizations – that is why we today see paternity leave, menstrual leave, mental well-being time off, hybrid work systems, etc. ???? It’s only when we humanize ourselves & talk about our challenges openly can we finally look for practical solutions! ????After all talking about maternity, paternity, menstruation, flexibility has finally got us so far. So just imagine if we continue the dialogue on these & any other challenge which we face as professionals how much more progress can we make & build a truly progressive working ecosystem! ????Intrigued, grab a copy: https://amzn.eu/d/1MUoy5H

Working Mums, we’ve got this! ?? ? A women’s work is never truly done, after working 8 hours doing a job I do truly enjoy, I then take care of my two children and family and house as even in 2024 women remain (the majority of the time) the primary caretaker and housekeeper. Yet the pressure we exert on ourselves to be both a great employee and great mother is not only divisive, but also exhausting and a lot of the time unachievable without considerable outside help. ? We need to stop talking about a work-life balance, this is not a reality. We need to strive for work-life integration. ? My biggest learnings especially recently are: ? ?? Stop comparing yourself to other mothers- my 2 ? year old refuses to potty train, still has a bottle and a dummy, she will grow out of all these things! ?? Get comfortable asking for help- it’s not a weakness. ?? Speak to your manager and explain, the majority of the time they are also mothers or fathers and understand the constant juggling act. ?? Find Joy in each day both home and in work- my profoundly deaf 6-year-old who wears cochlear implants is in the top set for reading, my proudest achievement to date! ??Understand that growth happens in inches not metres. To all the working mums out there, we may be winging motherhood, but we are all doing our best. Let's support each other and embrace our unique journeys. #WorkingMums #WorkLifeIntegration #SupportEachOther

As a fellow #workingmom I understand firsthand the juggling act we face every single day. The struggle to balance the demands of our careers with the precious moments we crave with our families can feel overwhelming at times. The Modern Family Index echoes what many of us have been feeling: a staggering 73% of working parents believe their employers could do more to support them in managing their work and family responsibilities. It's a wake-up call that we can't ignore. That's why I founded Tiny Transitions - to be a beacon of support and empowerment for working parents everywhere. Together, we're on a mission to revolutionize sleep education, access to coaching and building of a community through our Sleep Steps program, design corporate collaborations and workshops in the office for parents with & without kids, to highlight the impact chronic sleep deprivation has in the office and home. In 2024, it seem the workplace culture where flexibility, understanding, and family come first is still a long way away. Offering benefits such as flexible work arrangements, paid parental leave, and on-site childcare isn't just a luxury - it's a necessity. These initiatives can make all the difference in alleviating the burden on working parents and nurturing a happier, healthier workforce. So, let's continue to raise our voices, advocate for change, and build a brighter future for working families. Together, we can create a world where no parent has to choose between their career and their children. Are you ready to join the movement? Comment and let me know where this lands and share stories where your employer is stepping up! #workingparents #maternalmentalhealth #workingmomlife #workplacewellbeing #employeewellnessprograms

Working moms, your manager is not a mind reader I was recently discussing the topic of going back to work after maternity leave with a mom friend. She was feeling anxious about the transition and the new schedule. She was particularly uncomfortable addressing a new schedule that would require her to come and go at new times to care for her newborn. My advice to her is that managers aren’t mind readers. Everyone is going through different stages of life at different times, It is on YOU to communicate what’s going on in your life and how you want to change your schedule. “This is how I want to structure my day. I need to pump at this time and leave at this time to be home by bath time.” After maternity or paternity leave, it’s a very normal conversation. Most managers don’t care about what time you come and go, as long as the work gets done. Awkwardness around this topic doesn’t need to exist, because your manager at some point will likely be going through a similar situation. It’s unfair to resent them for not bringing it up first. Not bringing it up and being passive-aggressive about it, can send the wrong signal. You need to start that conversation, because your manager may not know what you are thinking. So get over that anxiety quickly, because this is just the start. In a few years, it will be leaving work to pick your kids up from school, etc. In the end, it will be beneficial for your manager-direct report relationship and unlock flexibility in your schedule that didn’t exist before.? ? #workingmom?#maternityleave?#familyleave
