Today the US honors #IndigenousPeoplesDay – a shift away from #ColumbusDay - to instead focus on recognizing the cultures, histories, and contributions of Native communities across the Americas.
Over 130 cities, 10 states, and Washington DC honor this day with educational events highlighting indigenous history, cultural ceremonies and celebrations, and advocacy for indigenous rights.
What you may not know however, are the substantial contributions indigenous people made to healthcare and medicine.
