It appears that Sarawak is looking to explore collaboration opportunities with ExxonMobil, a major international oil company, likely in the #LNG sector The meeting between the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Johari Tun Openg, and ExxonMobil officials led by Andrew Barry (Vice President Global LNG Marketing, LNG Market Development) suggests that discussions might have revolved around Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) considering Barry's title. The presence of officials from Petros, Sarawak's oil company, led by Dato Janin Girie, further strengthens the notion that the meeting likely centered on oil and gas exploration or development opportunities in Sarawak. Overall, this brief encounter indicates Sarawak's initiative to potentially partner with ExxonMobil on oil and gas related projects, particularly LNG.

"Brazil remains the main hotspot of activity in South America. However, there are exciting developments further north, towards the equatorial margin." Algeria and Chevron update! Chevron has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Algerian state oil and gas company, Sonatrach, to develop hydrocarbon resources in Algeria's Ahnet and Berkine Basins. The companies will enter discussions that could conclude with a production sharing contract award based on the new 2019 hydrocarbon law. Conventional and unconventional gas is the target. This follows ExxonMobil signing a Heads of Agreement to develop hydrocarbon resources in the Ahnet and Gourara basins in May and TotalEnergies signing a MoU for the appraisal and development of gas resources in the North-East Timimoun region in April. We expect more announcements as the Majors, including Eni, Shell, and Equinor, look to invest in Algeria’s material gas potential.?

2024 Ghana Oil & Gas Conference Last week I had the privilege of attending the Ghana Oil & Gas Conference, 2024 held on the 24th & 25th at the Marriott Hotels ,Accra by the Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber The two (2) days event whichwas eye-opening especially for a novice as myself who took it as an opportunity to be informed and learn of the prospects within the sector also saw the launching of the 2024 Ghana Upstream Petroleum Industry Report. It was a highly informative event with insightful presentations and engaging panel discussions that provided a deep dive into the latest industry trends and developments. Was particularly wowed by the depth of industry data from both the regulator Petroleum Commission, Ghana and industry giants like MODEC Tullow Ghana WAGPCo Africa Centre for Energy Policy and others. Key Takeaways: 1. The need to further develop more fields to increase our dwindling production. 2. Move beyond ownership, when it comes to Local Content, into value addition through the development of an integrated light/heavy industrial sector. 3.
