Heavy footsteps in the attic, above my head ?? Usually in the afternoon. I started hearing them a while ago and was told it could be glis glis who are marching towards London from the west, apparently. My window cleaner recommended Old Bill’s Pest Control - ‘Let your pest be our problem’ (brand origin story – business set up by ex-Met police officers). It turned out to be squirrels – big ones – Jack said. They’d scaled the wall, by the drainpipe, and forced their way in from the space where the starlings had nested, which explains why the starlings didn’t return. The pesky squirrel presence challenged one of my heartfelt values – affinity with nature. I tend to be ‘live and let live’ with the foxes, birds and occasional deer who come into the garden. However, grey squirrels are treated as vermin, so if trapped, cannot be released. So, Jack did his job, 3 squirrels won’t be nesting in the attic, or gnawing at the floorboards and wiring, and the roofer (recommended by Old Bill’s) will fix the gap. Yet again, this little story reinforced the power of trusted referrals for small businesses – and how everyday life can challenge your values ?? ? Client just had her pest control provider out last month! ?? This is a rodent bait block. Specially a Contrac Rodent Blox. About 6 months ago it was bright green and not degrading to dust. This customer is paying $102 A MONTH! For a service that she isnt even really getting. These baits will not attract for mice or do anything to protect the structure once it begins to break down. Like us, rodents like their food fresh. Either out of your kitchen or maybe fresh leftovers in your trash. But not 6 month old food. Thats just crossing the line. ?? Typically these baits should be changed out at the most, every 3 months. This previous company just got lazy. If you currently have a pest control service, I recommend a second opinion for your own peace of mind and the protection of your family, home or business.
