In 2008, Terrell Garrett, Owner of GreenWay Recycling, invested in a 4864 Grinder from West Salem Machinery, and it's been running ever since. “We’re the only company in Portland Metro area that is running a stationary electric grinder, and quite frankly, I do not understand why everybody doesn’t do it." A recent report by Paul Sanderson, Chief Executive at The Recycling Association, highlights a key issue in our industry, and at Re-Gen, we fully support a unified mixed dry recycling (commingled) collection system. With the right investment in technology and state-of-the-art facilities, we are able to produce the highest quality material and the most carbon friendly option. ? The commingled system also increases recycling rates, ensuring more materials are processed effectively and efficiently. This approach is the best option for the public purse, providing cost-effective solutions that benefit taxpayers and public finances. ? The fully commingled system makes recycling easier for householders, simplifying the process and reducing confusion. It's time to embrace modern technology to improve waste processing standards across the board.?? ? #commingled #wastemanagement #recycling

Maybe this has much to do with waste separation on site, hauling and MRF sorting capabilities. The ability of the hauler to preserve on site separated waste's sorting until final disposition at the MRF, and the ability of the MRF to properly sort commingled waste, if mingled along the way. When dealing with construction waste, commingled waste is alwasy challenging depending what sorting facility it is being delivered too. Sometimes it can vary widely according to the project location, even with the same hauler. As a side thought, the fact that 21 out of 57 trackers were still considered to have provided "unreliable data" makes me think what "unreliable" means. Where did those ended up? Maybe scrap scavengers pockets? Ran out of battery? In the ocean away from a geolocating network? While the story is telling, still seems like a flawed sample set. https://lnkd.in/eSmvBMg2

???? Happy National Crush a Can Day! ???? While the name might suggest otherwise, it’s actually better to NOT crush your cans before recycling them. Crushing cans can make it harder for recycling facilities like ours to sort them properly, so today, let’s focus on what matters—raising awareness about the importance of recycling! Recycling has come a long way! Did you know the first aluminum can recycling plant opened in 1904 in Chicago? By 1970, the same year as the first #EarthDay, recycling #steel, and #aluminum cans became widely accepted, thanks to buy-back centers. Recycling helps conserve natural resources, reduce carbon emissions, lower waste, and save money. This National Crush Day, let’s commit to protecting our planet and its precious #resources! Together, we can make a difference. We Make ?? Easy!
