West Coast Solutions (WCS) is proud to announce the award of a NASA Phase II SBIR award to fund the development and qualification of a radiation hard Flight Controller for the Sunpower Robust Stirling Convertor (SRSC). SRSC sets the industry standard for a high reliability, long life, efficient Stirling power convertor for space applications. SRSC is primarily targeted for pairing with radioisotope-powered thermal sources to generate power where solar flux is weak, or unavailable. Applications include deep space probes and lunar missions, among others. The WCS Stirling Convertor Space Controller (SCSC) will represent the first flight-qualified controller for the SRSC, finally making the outstanding SRSC technology available for space deployment. The funded 18-month effort will yield a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 flight-design engineering model in late 2025 following a robust series of planned environmental tests. WCS is already engaging with interested partners to get near term plans in place for flight production. Please contact us for more information and to discuss your application.
Will you be on this effort? the SRSC and or the SCSC? I talked to a guy is worked on the mirror actuators for the James Webb Space Telescope. He said it was every demanding but rewarding.
Congrats!
Congrats! WCS going from strength to strength!
Great news!
Congrats WCS Team!
We appreciate and are humbled by NASA’s and Sunpower’s support in the development of this critical technology.
