“What would you do if you had to restart your landscaping business completely from scratch?” Answer: The same strategy I applied when I found myself in that exact situation. Here’s how I made $75,000 in 30 days starting with only $1,000: 1) I reached out to local homeowners since I understood their landscaping challenges. But this approach can work for any service business. 2) I asked them how many landscaping jobs they could take on without increasing costs. 3) I proposed to fill their schedules at no upfront cost. They wouldn’t have to do a thing but allow me to manage the marketing. 4) The arrangement was simple: I would handle all the advertising and lead generation, and if jobs came through, we’d discuss my cut later. 5) “I’ll fill your schedule for free in 30 days” became my compelling offer. 6) With $1,000 in my account, I allocated it to social media ads and local promotions. 7) Each lead cost me about $20, and I would convert 1 in 5 into jobs valued at an average of $1,500. 8) I spent $1,000 in the first week, bringing in $30,000 in new bookings. 9) By month’s end, I had successfully generated $75,000 by actively filling job slots. Having lived through this experience, my answer isn’t speculation. It’s a real tactic that helped me rebuild my landscaping business. And you can apply this model in any service-based industry. ?? My husband and I recently hired a landscaper to come fix up the flower beds/weed situation at our new home. We both work full-time, and while capable of basic landscaping, felt the price and expertise vs. time lift on us was well worth it. ?????? We found a locally, family-owned business, which we value and try to support when we can. And because we were on a time crunch, for once in our lives (we both work in sales so love a good negotiation), we didn't even shop around for alternative quotes because we left the consult feeling positive. ?? In comes a text message a few days prior to the scheduled job: "Can you all do me a huge favor and go pickup whatever plants, flowers, or shrubs you like from the store. I've been so busy I have not had the time to look for them." ?? In one "ask", this landscaper quite literally drew a line through 2 of the 3 reasons we hired them (re: time saved, experts in their field). While we have offered them two alternatives - neither of which include us going to the garden center - and retained the team for now, there has been faith lost in their abilities + timeliness, and created a possible scenario where we do not move forward in the future and/or hire them again. ?? Moral of the story: Listen, life happens. And we get that. But remember, trust once earned and then broken is much harder to repair. Be a problem solver/solution bringer. Make your prospect's/customer's lives easier whenever you can. Present realistic expectations and timelines.
