?? Managers and Supervisors: If you're reading this odds are you're probably a mediocre boss. I know, this is harsh. I also know that this is true. ?? The picture below is added for effect, and thankfully most bosses don't go this far. Although some do. Here's a mediocre boss (you may have most, but not all of these): ?? Requires you to CC them on most if not all of your messages ?? Thinks they know the jobs of their employees better than the employee ?? Uses this thought process to tell the employee how to do their jobs ?? Puts you at the mercy of their moods or whims ?? Takes over your responsibilities without you knowing ?? Enables poor performance and/or bullying from employees on the team ?? "Punishes" good performers by giving them more work ?? Reminds you of the urgency of work (which you already know) ?? Has no real plan and seems to manage the team on a whim ?? Thinks their position enables them to not treat others respectfully (because the employee isn't doing their job or doing it right) I could go on, but you get the idea. Many of you bosses will read this and say "no, not me" all the while you're employees are off to the side saying "yes, that describes them to a T!" Bottom line, your leadership skills need work and you're the only one who doesn't know it. So, we need to talk. Send me a message and let's get started. #HRKyle #leadershipskills #leadervsboss #development

We've all had our share of bosses, from the ones who inspire us to those who leave *cough, cough* much to be desired. FastCompany recently highlighted three great traits of "good bosses"—clear communication, leading with compassion, and setting realistic expectations. But there's one more I believe deserves a spot on that list: empowerment. A great boss doesn't just manage; they empower you to grow. They provide opportunities for professional development and are thrilled to usher you out of the nest when it's time for you to level-up. Shout-out to my current and past bosses who did and do just that for me! You're the real MVPs! ?? What do you think makes a great boss? Share your thoughts below! ???? #Leadership #Empowerment #CareerGrowth #ThankYouBosses https://lnkd.in/gx9EifQX

The Characteristics of a Great Boss: Developing the traits of a great boss is a journey that requires time and effort. Not everyone is inherently equipped with leadership skills, and it's normal to make mistakes along the way. A great boss is a rare gem in the working world, a beacon of positivity among stories of unfavorable employers. Unfortunately, many individuals have encountered horror stories of unprofessional behavior from those in leadership positions. A great boss is meant to be the cohesive force within a company, not the cause of discord and disarray. They play a pivotal role in maintaining a harmonious workplace environment. According to a recent Gallup report on the State of The American Workplace, exceptional bosses significantly contribute to high levels of staff engagement. Engaged employees are not only happier but also more motivated, productive, and likely to remain loyal. Their commitment stems from the positive work culture fostered by their exemplary leaders. #Work #WorkPlace #JobSatisfaction #Leadership #Management

Choose a boss, not a job! This might sound counterintuitive, but it's true. The stints which I fondly remember in my 27 year long professional life, I always had a super supportive boss! That's why, as a leader also, it's essential to try and be an empowering and motivating boss. Being easy to work with is an underappreciated skill. Many professionals don't understand that being approachable and supportive can inspire their team to work harder and achieve better results. So, if you're in a position to choose your boss, make sure to select someone who is not only knowledgeable, but also approachable and supportive. Remember, a great boss can make your job much more fulfilling and rewarding. #boss #leadershiplessons
