The Lazard New Visions Academy, a partnership with New Visions for Public Schools, is a signature initiative of the Lazard Foundation that provides New York City public high school students with skills, experiences, and relationships that will set them on a path toward professional success. Over the course of the five-week program, colleagues from across the firm participated in career panels, professional development sessions, resume workshops, mock interviews, and networking activities—all culminating in the students’ final capstone projects. Hear from our volunteers about how this rewarding experience impacted them:

Excited to Share "Support for Carolina", a community built to support UNC students navigating the intense pressures of a competitive academic environment. This past semester in my ENG302, Professional Communication for Social Movements course, my peers and I were challenged to create a social movement by professor Joseph Telegen. Our mission is to empower students by reframing setbacks as opportunities for growth, offering resources, and guidance to peers. Our slogan, “Rejection is Redirection,” reflects our commitment to helping students find strength in adversity and create a more inclusive, supportive UNC. Students can access our site by logging in with their ONYENs. The platform offers valuable resources for students in various fields like business, pre-med, public policy, and media/journalism. Here's a sneak peek of areas/resources our site offers: - Leadership??: Small ways to get Involved, Explore Resources UNC has to Offer, and A Guide to Building Leadership without a Title. - Campus to career tips??: Preparing for the Job Market, Finding Opportunities, Preparing for Interviews, Leveraging Internships and Campus Jobs, Career Fair Success, Overcoming Common Challenges, and Long-Term Career Growth. - Navigating Your Career??: Growth and Long-Term Success - Building a Professional Brand, Career Resilience: Thriving Through Challenges,?Long-Term Career Planning, Work-Life Balance and Fulfillment, and Navigating Career Transitions. We hope this platform helps UNC students turn rejection into stories of growth, resilience, and inspiration. Join us in building a stronger, more supportive community! And shout-out to our awesome team!! Ansley Hayes, Leona Liu, Zehui Luo, and Genevieve Rickey. #SupportForCarolina #UNC #RejectionIsRedirection #GoHeels

? Had a great time at Making Waves Academy in Richmond, CA, speaking with 9th-12th graders about their future academic and career goals during the 2024 Fall Career Fair! ?? Sabrina Raphael, MBA, PMP, discussed topics that included: ?? How to land a first job ?? Managing work and college simultaneously ?? Breaking into industries like fashion, game design, and more Advice and actionable next steps with students who are beginning to think about their futures and career paths. It's rewarding to work with such a range of individuals, from junior high students to mid-career professionals. ???Mentorship has proven benefits: Students who meet regularly with their mentors are 52% less likely to skip a day of school and 37% less likely to skip a class. Moreover, 58% of young people say their mentor has supported their mental health, and mentored youth are 130% more likely to hold leadership positions. Let’s continue empowering the next generation! #CareerFair2024 #MentorshipMatters #FutureLeader #NeverTooLate #CareerDevelopment #CollegeAndCareer #CommunityImpact #GivingBack

True Grit: The Commitment of Scholars Behind Bars (Part 1) What does a typical college student need for success? For most, it's things we often take for granted: Google – A world of information at your fingertips. Email – Direct access to faculty and classmates. Smartphone – Staying connected and accessing tools anytime, anywhere. Access to Faculty – Office hours and guidance outside of class. Career Fairs – Opportunities to network and find internships or jobs. Access to Transcripts – Whether from high school or previous colleges, easy access to your academic history is crucial. A Well-Resourced Library – Countless books, research materials, and digital access. Answers On Demand – The ability to ask questions and get answers almost instantly. These are things the average college student uses without a second thought. But for scholars behind bars, most of the time, these luxuries are not readily available. Yet, they successfully navigate their educational journey with minimal resources, sheer determination, and unwavering commitment. That is what I call True Grit. Stay tuned for more insights from my visit to Jessup Correctional Facility, where I witnessed firsthand the resilience and dedication of these scholars. Britany Gatewood, Ph.D. Anthony J. Happy to be back at St Joseph’s College secondary school for another wonderful Big Interview event organised by Jean Ampah Even better to be joined by ex Saint Francis Xavier (SFX) Sixth Form College alumni Ben Cascoe So many organisations here supporting and promoting career opportunities: Introducing students to diverse roles and industries they might not have considered before. The students have the chance develop interview skills with interviewers to support them with tips and mock interviews to boost confidence and prepare them for real-world applications. I love to help equip the next generation with the tools they need to succeed in a competitive job market. The talent and curiosity shown were incredibly encouraging as always. And I always learn a great deal from the students also. I believe local authorities play a significant role in supporting students' career development. Well done to Jean Ampah and St Josephs College staff for organising such a meaningful event. If you or your organisation are considering getting involved in similar activities, I highly recommend it—investing in young people is investing in the future. #CareersEvent #SkillsForTheFuture #YouthEngagement #Mentorship #CareerDevelopment #LambethCareers

Preparing for college in high school 2. Investigate the options Start a running list of your student's favorite schools or programs. Research and contact each to learn more about what makes the experience and education distinctive. Attend college visits and career fairs. Plan visits to campuses — even neighboring schools that aren't on your top list of favorites can help you choose the right college. #collegeprep #tip #insights

Today marked the third year I am facilitating a Freshman Direct Seminar. The goal is to provide Freshman students the tools necessary to navigate the Univeristy and make it easier to grasp by touching on career exploration, resume building, an elevator pitch, a case competition, and DEI conversations. I’m excited for this cohort of students! #highereducation #progressoverperfection #classof2028
