The 4 part process to Increasing meetings from your webinars... (Every Webinar Has a Funnel) The common process = Quick marketing effort, chatting to an interesting panelist and giving a discount code at the end. THIS IS WRONG - We have set about improving it like this ?? You need to think about it in these 4 ways like a funnel: 1. Webinar Registration (Getting people to sign up) 2. Attendance (Getting the people signed up to attend) 3. Retention (Getting the people who attend to stay) 4. Meeting/New customers (Getting people who stay to convert) Each stage of the funnel has a different goal, meaning different messaging and tactics need to be applied. For example - let's say you have an average of 100 registrants on webinars and aim to increase 5% across the board. Registered (100 people) --> 105 People registered 50% Attendance rate (50 people)--> 55% (58 People) 60% Retention rate. (30 people)--> 65% (38 People) 10% Conversion rate (3 people)--> 15% (6 People) The number of final conversions rises from 3 to 6 customers, representing a 100% increase in conversions. If you solely focused on increasing the number of registrants by 15% (without improving the other funnel stages), the final number of conversions only goes from 3 to 4 customers, a 33.3% increase in conversions. Now apply this funnel at scale and you can dream of the results ;)

We’re really, like truly, incredibly great at overthinking things. So here’s the bare minimum you need to launch a great speaking business. 1) A problem that you solve. Think of something you have life experience around and could answer questions or educate people on. Pro tip: The more narrow this topic, the easier it will be to get booked and paid. 2) You need a single talk. Write down the points you want to make, outline them with the stories you want to share, and start drafting the whole talk. Test it out on everyone you know. When it’s hard-hitting and polished, that’s your new signature keynote. 3) Minimal but well-positioned marketing assets. A 3-5 minute demo reel. Show you on stage, show the crowd, and give people the movie trailer of your talk. A SIMPLE website. 1 page. (Yes, that’s really all you need.) Start with your demo video. Then show your contact info. Then show pictures of you. Show people what they get when they hire you as a speaker. Then show recommendations. From people in the audience or from decision-makers. Then, share your bio. What qualifies you to speak on this topic? What gets you out of bed every day? Then, end the page with a list of topics you can cover—1-3, ideally, max 5. Stay in your lane. 4) A process to help you acquire paid gigs. Start with a spreadsheet or a Trello board, etc. Research gigs online. Use Google, Eventbrite, etc. Make a list of these opportunities, and then find the name of a person to contact. Not a generic email. You need a real human. If you can’t find the “right one” start with an email to anyone that says something like this: ”Hi name, I’m interested in learning more about <event>. Can you connect me with the person who books speakers? Thanks, Your Name.” Then you wait. If you don’t hear back in 7-10 days, follow up. Rinse and repeat until you get connected with the decision maker. I’d recommend following up 3-4 times over the course of 6-8 weeks. (This is where your list comes in handy. Track when you followed up with people, and when you need to go do it again!) Once you’re connected with a decision-maker, be sure to have a discovery call. This is a live audition. They are going to sample you as the product. Use a video call if possible. Treat it like a gig. Show up ready to go and be “on.” Once you get off the call, send over your proposal, what would be included, your speaker fee, and anything else they ask to see. That’s it. Those 4 steps are all that you need to get booked and paid to speak. The key, as with most things, is consistency. You can’t prospect once and get booked and paid, and you can’t have one discovery call and get booked for life. A speaking career requires dedication, commitment, and intentionality.
