One of the great fears of an email marketer is sending too many emails. But what about the opposite—sending too few? According to a study by NextAfter, 40% of nonprofits did not send a single email to their new online donors during year-end. On top of that, 29% of organizations sent nothing to their donors at all including direct mail. Many nonprofits feel it is better to send nothing to everyone than to offend someone. When you don’t send emails you lose out on supporter engagement and revenue. Not every communication needs to ask for money. Cultivation emails go a long way in building trust between you and your supporters. And the holidays are the easiest time to do that. Is there a magic number of emails to send during year-end? No, but I can tell you it is more than zero! The link to the study is in the comments. #emailmarketing #nonprofit #fundraising #npocampaignlab

It's about making a connection. Try this instead: ? Use emotion-evoking subject lines ? Keep it short (50-125 words) ? Tell a story that tugs at heartstrings ? Make your call-to-action crystal clear Remember: People donate to causes they feel connected to. Your email isn't just asking for money. It's inviting someone to be part of something bigger.
