In my opinion, this has been one of the most dramatically transformed areas in advertising; from Print & TV to Programmatic & Social. In the 'Mad Men' era, it was all about print ads, billboards, radio and TV spots. Deals were struck over lunches, and a good relationship could secure prime placement and better rates. Today, media buying is dominated by programmatic advertising, where algorithms decide in milliseconds where our ads will appear, and real-time bidding has turned the entire landscape upside down. Social media platforms offer hyper-targeted ads that track user behavior, delivering messages right when it matters most. Interestingly, even radio and TV spots have adapted. Traditional airwaves are now competing with streaming platforms and podcasts, where digital ad placements are just as precise and data-driven as social media.
