?? Critical Vote Alert for UAW Local 2209 at GM’s Fort Wayne Plant On Wednesday, UAW Local 2209 members will cast a pivotal vote on a potential strike at GM’s Fort Wayne Assembly Plant in Indiana, a key site for producing Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks. The vote underscores rising tensions over temporary worker layoffs and job security concerns, following GM’s recent decision to cut approximately 250 temporary roles. Union leaders have advocated for fair treatment and full-time transitions for these workers, with UAW Local 2209 President Rich LeTourneau emphasizing the need to protect jobs and negotiate effectively with GM. While a “yes” vote empowers negotiation, it doesn’t guarantee a strike. Stay tuned for updates on this impactful moment for auto labor and manufacturing in Indiana. #AutoIndustry #LaborRights #UAW

Have a nice weekend! Nearly 9,000 members of the UAW union at Ford’s Kentucky truck plant are set to strike next Friday Close to 9,000 members of the United Auto Workers union at Ford’s largest and most lucrative truck plant in Kentucky are set to strike next Friday unless local contract disputes are settled, according to Reuters. https://bit.ly/42IsEe0 This news has led to a 1.2% drop in the company’s shares. These contract discussions are distinct from the agreements reached last year between the Detroit Three automakers (Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis) and the United Auto Workers (UAW), which will result in unprecedented wage increases for approximately 150,000 members. https://bit.ly/3T0ClB8 In addition to the UAW’s national contracts, members also negotiate local agreements that address specific issues at each facility. The union stated that the primary issues in the local negotiations at the Kentucky Truck Plant are health and safety concerns, including minimum nurse staffing levels within the plant and ergonomic issues, as well as Ford’s ongoing efforts to undermine skilled trades at the plant. Ford’s Kentucky truck plant, which generates $25 billion in annual revenue, accounts for about one-sixth of the company’s global automotive revenue. This latest strike warning comes at a time when U.S. labor unions, empowered by a labor shortage and positive public sentiment, are pushing for improved wages and working conditions to recover concessions made during the pandemic. Interesting. Almost a year after Big 3 strike and it will take a few more years to determine whether the UAW strategy paid off. No doubt they got a great contract (and no, it was not just 25% GWI. It was that plus a real old fashioned COLA plus other additions). But they also treated all 3 companies the same. Even Ford, which had a real North American strategy and had higher labor rates because they did not engage in the type of constant staff cutting this articles attributes to Stellantis. Stellantis also has a much bigger international footprint which allows them to move production elsewhere more easily. At the end of the day, did the UAW's lack of differentiation between the companies mean that Stellantis will be more competitive than Ford and GM? #laborrelations, #collectivebargaining, #unions, #automotive, #manufacturing https://lnkd.in/dub-4VcF

How the UAW Strike is Impacting More Than Just Cars ???? Did you know? The ongoing UAW strike isn't just affecting car production; it's sending shockwaves through industries far beyond the automotive world. ?? From airlines to local mom-and-pop suppliers, the strike is creating a ripple effect. Delta Airlines, for example, has already seen a hit to its business in Detroit. Small suppliers that create seatbelts, gears, and other essential parts are struggling, and if the strike continues, we may see job cuts and even bankruptcies in these sectors. ?? ?? Takeaway: The strike highlights how interconnected industries are—what starts on the assembly line can affect your next flight or even the cost of groceries as supply chains tighten. ?? Incompetent Ford CEO tries to intimidate UAW, saying they might move production out of the USA due to past strikes. Next day, almost like they're trying to send a message or something, UAW announces a planned strike on the 23rd. Ford is having a mud slinging contest with their own employees and demolishing their made in America image. This is likely to impact future stock growth. #Ford #unions #madeinamerica #labormarket #organizedlabor #organizedlife #USA #finance #investing https://lnkd.in/e9Fe2TcH

Title: Potential Strike at Daimler Truck Could Disrupt Major Industries The clock is ticking for Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) and over 7,300 United Auto Workers (UAW) as their negotiation deadlock could lead to a strike by September 15. ?? The current division primarily revolves around wages, healthcare, job security, and investments in US manufacturing. ?? From a personal standpoint, this situation brings back memories of past industry disruptions I've witnessed where negotiations faltered. The potential strike at DTNA is not just about company operations but touches upon broader issues like supply chain stability and economic impacts. Having seen the ripple effects on related sectors such as construction and logistics firsthand, the importance of resolving such labor disputes cannot be overstated. The implications of this looming strike extend beyond DTNA, potentially heightening consumer prices and hampering productivity across several dependent industries. ?? It serves as a critical reminder of how interconnected our economic fabric is — a single thread pulled could unravel much more. As the negotiation deadline rapidly approaches, it's crucial to consider: What are the broader consequences of labor disputes in such pivotal industries? Have you or your industry ever been impacted by similar situations? Let’s discuss below. ?? #LaborNegotiations #SupplyChain #IndustryImpact #DaimlerTruck #UAW #Manufacturing #EconomicEffects
