The European Money Week celebrates its 10th anniversary! During the past decade, tens of thousands of Europeans have joined the initiative to improve their financial literacy skills. What have we prepared this year on 19 March for the European Money Week launch event in Brussels & online? ?? Watch the video for a first impression & take a peek at the ???panels organized this year: ?? Panel #1 will assess the current state of financial literacy in Europe. With only 18% of EU population having a high level of financial literacy, many challenges remain to be addressed across the continent. What about the opportunities? ?? Panel #2 will look at the financial education in digitalised finance. As we witness the proliferation of digital financial services, we need to assess whether Europe’s current approaches to financial education adequately address the evolving needs of a digitally active society. ?? Panel #3 will move the spotlight from financial scams to financial resilience of European citizens. Propelled by a proliferation of Artificial Intelligence technologies, financial scams have gained popularity and become much more complex. Published today, the Elgar Companion to the World Bank is an important scholarly volume that looks at the Bank from multidisciplinary perspectives. We're delighted and honored that it includes two chapters from the ARC team. Jonathan Fox's chapter traces the long-term processes and outcomes of five outlier World Bank projects from the 1990s that included participatory elements, concluding that they had not only contested and uneven outcomes, but also contradictory interaction effects. Rachel Nadelman's chapter with Ricardo Vergel Negrón discusses the potential - and necessity - for change in the World Bank’s treatment of civic space, makes the case that the Bank could have a transformational impact by systematically assessing and addressing civic space when generating country-targeted development strategies. Always lovely to touch down on home soil, and the second stakeholder event held by the Department of Finance Ireland on the development of the national financial literacy strategy held in the revamped Páirc Uí Chaoimh today was so positive with lots of good energy in the room. ??With the strategy due to be implemented by the end of the year, the event was packed with interesting speeches, insightful discussions and practical suggestions aimed at identifying the gaps and looking at lessons learnt abroad. Supriya Syal Ph.D. from the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada | Agence de la consommation en matière financière du Canada told delegates that Canada was one of the highest financially literate countries in the world and on their second financial literacy strategy. ??Really interesting presentations were made with Linda Ayres from the Irish Banking Culture Board sharing how their partnership with a domestic violence support group helps survivors become financially literate and regain independence. ??? https://lnkd.in/eRrA_S67 ??Meanwhile Derville Rowland from Central Bank of Ireland acknowledged the challenges of scams and digitalisation on consumers. With the rapidly growing phenomenon of financial influencers or ‘finfluencers’, she said it was important for young people to have trusted voices. By the time I am becoming part of the Financial Council to our Nation, and the African Bloc at large, we are going to be among the wealthiest regions. Money is an ‘illusion’ — individuals, institutions and states sometimes make obvious flawed acts in it pursuit, or its spending. The illusion ends up becoming a hazy complex. We have a lot of experiences to borrow ample lessons from, and in a bid to not make the same mistakes, deep shores as to the history of money and empires have to be explored and interpreted wisely. What are some of the moments that you can recall from self, or a media story, perhaps even an ancient book, about Money, and how has it shaped how you interact with Money, and everything else associated with it?

Global Money Week (GMW), an annual campaign organised by OECD, highlights the importance of early financial education for youth. The 12th edition is comming soon between 18-24 March.
