Sanitation is a fundamental #HumanRight. Currently, 3.5 billion people around the world lack access to safe toilets. Factors such as conflict, climate change, disasters, and neglect undermine human dignity and hinder global efforts to achieve #SDG6. At Water For People, we believe that everyone deserves access to dignifying toilets—spaces for peace, protection, and an opportunity for progress. #Toilets = #Peace #Progress #Protection

Toilets are vital for peace, yet billions still lack safe, secure sanitation. Conflict, climate change, and disasters put these essential services at risk, exacerbating the spread of disease and threatening lives. With 3.5 billion people without safely managed sanitation, including 419 million practising open defecation, action is urgently needed. We must ensure toilets are resilient, accessible, and protected for all. Join the global #WorldToiletDay campaign for ‘Toilets – A Place for Peace’ and help drive change toward safe sanitation for everyone by 2030.

On this #WorldToiletDay we recognise toilets as places for peace. It protects everyone’s dignity and especially transforms the lives of women and girls. But for billions of people, sanitation is threatened by conflict, climate change, disasters and neglect. More investment and better governance of sanitation are critical for a fairer, more peaceful world. #WorldToiletDay2024

Today is #WorldWaterDay. Water security issues such as access to safe and clean drinking water, and access to WASH capabilities are some of the most urgent issues facing marginalized and developing communities around the world. As climate change continues to exacerbate droughts, floods, fires, and hurricanes; As water pollution levels continues to rise globally; And as old and poorly built water infrastructure begins to crumbles or contaminate existing water supplies, it is more important than ever for governments, corporations, and NGOs around the world to join together to make concerted efforts to protect arguably our most precious resource.

Strengthening community resilience to natural disasters is a core focus for the Water Research Commission (WRC), with future projects aimed at addressing the concerns of climate change on basic sanitation services. The creation, and implementation of sanitation systems need to be resilient to climate-related risks and as such, in the future the WRC will be focusing on ‘climate-resilient sanitation’ and innovations to ensure sanitation can exist in an ever changing world. https://sastep.org.za/ #SanitationForAll #SASTEP #sanitationinnovation #sanitationtechnology

The human right to water is increasingly under threat across our planet. Those who live in fragile contexts are twice as likely to lack safely managed drinking water and basic hygiene. In conflicts, unsafe water can be just as deadly as bullets. On average, children under the age of 15 who are living in conflict are nearly three times more likely to die from diseases linked to unsafe water and sanitation than from direct violence. As the world grapples with climate change, mass migration, and political unrest, it's crucial to prioritize the human rights to water and sanitation in humanitarian response and recovery. This #WorldWaterDay, let's pledge to harness the power of water as a conduit for peace. Together, we can pave the way toward a more peaceful, equitable future.

HELSING?R MOTORWAY UNDER WATER This time the floods were - as far as is known - without personal injury. We might not be so lucky next time. ? Elsewhere in the world, people die because of floods, forest fires, and droughts. Lack of water and food makes living conditions difficult or impossible. ? We have long ago exceeded nature's own limits. The systems are out of balance, and we are in an uncertain area where we are no longer sure that nature's systems can continue to maintain their own function. ? It is an emergency that calls for immediate and significant action. ? The politicians do not help us, so we as a population will have to do something that cannot be ignored. ? It could be a general strike with a demand that the politicians immediately implement the necessary measures and regulations that can help us to stop - for the time being - virtually all environmentally damaging activities that are not essential for our survival. ? #dkpol #dkgreen #planetaryboundaries #climate #biodiversity

It is important to study how landlord/tenant policy impacts renters in the aftermath of natural disasters, especially as these disasters are statistically increasing in both frequency and scale.? ? “Evictions can destabilize families and worsen overall well-being, and they disproportionately affect households with low incomes. As climate disasters threaten residents in vulnerable regions, being evicted can further devastate those renters. However, local tenant protections may help residents stay stable in their housing after disasters.”? ? Learn more about some existing research from Urban Institute:?https://lnkd.in/ddRjh8_c

The Aquapea is saving water Internationally, as well as for 13 major UK water companies. But there are many, many countries who desperately need to #savewater. We have the easiest, fastest, most #costeffective and #unique product to do this, so why resort to digging for hours, increasing costs and raising your #carbonfootprint. #Droughts caused by #climatechange, population growth and aging #infrastructure is worryingly leading to whole countries running out of #water. The Aquapea MUST be the first option to reduce/repair small diameter #leaks. #savewater #drought #leakage #saveenergy #waterefficiency #waterindustry #global #innovation #sustainability #management
