We began giving out equity grants 3 years ago to address the underfunding of BIPOC-led nonprofits. Equity grants are mission-based, unrestricted grants ranging from $10,000 - $15,000 awarded to local nonprofits led by Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC). BIPOC-led nonprofits are often the closest and best suited to address the needs of their community, but also receive only a fraction of the funding available to the nonprofit sector. This gap in funding limits their ability to effectively serve and uplift their communities. Learn more about Impact100 Essex Equity Grants at https://lnkd.in/gU_Kz9QC

ICYMI: Last week, four local nonprofit organizations were awarded more than $47,000 in funding through the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana’s (CFSI) Capacity Building and Community Assist grant programs, which empowers nonprofits serving Clark and Floyd counties by addressing operating needs and funding impactful projects. In addition to these quarterly grants, CFSI awarded an additional $10,000 to the Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana to support its White Flag Shelter, which provides life-saving refuge during extreme weather. Half of the grant – $5,000 – came from the Foundation’s unrestricted Community Impact Fund. The remaining $5,000 was contributed by an anonymous CFSI donor through their Donor Advised Fund, doubling the impact to $10,000. Story: https://lnkd.in/eDP2jaaz
