I appreciate the hard work and dedication individuals are committing to this cause. Laws and regulations are definitely needed when working in these industries. "The provision in its current form would take a one-time $10 million deduction from the state’s Opioid Addiction Treatment and Recovery Fund and use that money... ...to award grants to Research Universities in... ...to study psilocybin as a treatment for substance use disorder." (In what??? In MO?) (Only Universities? Wash U is already conducting research with synthetic psilocybin) (What substance use qualifies?) Note: very specific. If your a MO Veteran, don't list PSTD on your intake form. I'm not seeing the benefits for someone like myself, or most of the individuals I personally know currently microdosing real psilocybin. Hurray to whomever that 10 mill is dispersed to, use it wisely please!

The question that stood out to me was what factors aren’t being considered. And who is regulating this process, as it has yet to evolve. We have come so far, however so much more can be done. We as veterans deserve better ?? The introduction of a cannabis nurse and the shift towards a more individualized and personal approach to cannabis use for veterans is a positive step. Veterans Affairs Canada / Anciens Combattants Canada has jumped onboard. Thank you This would eliminate so many issues in the industry. It would shift it back to an idividual and personal experience vs a generic prescription that fits us all or a money driven industry that has continued to profit without focusing primarily veterans. The lack of communication between the prescribing physician, mental health team, and family doctor is definitely an important factor to consider. The overall lack of experience in dealing with veterans with complex and underlying conditions should also be addressed. The coordination and integration of care, including consideration of all medications and health concerns, is crucial in determining the appropriate amount of medical cannabis authorized for each veteran. This communication and collaboration among healthcare providers is essential for ensuring the overall well-being and safety of the veteran. I myself have been in the position and lacking the voice to be my own advocate, simply didn’t ask questions. It’s important to consider the education and knowledge of the prescribing physician, as well as the education and knowledge of the veterans using the prescription. As I’ve been exposed to the clinics that were established to help Veterans, sadly the client aspect vs how much money per client can be made stood out to me. Why is the veterans prescription being increased ? Have they requested it ? Did we see if any corrections can be made with the current script ? Did they order the proper prescription ? Have they also introduced factors to improve their overall quality of life ? Before trying to find a bandaid solution to a problem, take a deeper look at what else can be introduced to help support the veteran. Monitoring and overseeing the veteran's use of cannabis, as well as understanding their reasons for requesting an increase in dosage, are also important factors to consider. Additionally, the type and form of cannabis products being used, as well as the overall care and proper education of veterans in using cannabis, should be taken into account when determining the amount of medical cannabis authorized per Veteran in Canada.

The GOP-led House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel has proposed eliminating marijuana testing as grounds for enlistment as other branches of the military have eased cannabis-related restrictions. This could potentially impact recruitment and personnel management. At the same time, the committee is urging progress updates from the Department of Defense (DOD) on clinical trials studying psychedelics' therapeutic potential for treating post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries in active duty service members.
