Next week, we'll be releasing some data for enlisted personnel, but in response to the many questions we received about the O-3 data, we've created this chart to address the most common inquiries. This chart highlights how compensation has grown for a few individual case studies and is not an average of all respondents with a certain degree. Here are a few more clarifications: - We can't provide detailed data for the Coast Guard due to a limited number of responses across each rank. This will improve as we gather more data. - This chart shows a few individual case studies - Our survey focuses on veterans transitioning from active duty. We plan to adjust it to include those in the Guard and Reserves. - Our dataset currently includes ranks from E-2 to E-9 and O-2 to O-6, though the sample sizes for E-2 and O-2 are smaller compared to other ranks - Thanks to all of you, the dataset is constantly growing and we are capturing even more insights Join the movement to empower veterans with the knowledge they need!?Take the survey?and help us build the most comprehensive database of compensation insights. Skillbridge is an amazing concept that, if performed to standard by DOD policy, would positively impact so many service members. This is one more example of groupthink and bias clouding policy. According to Marine Corps Recruiting Command, the Marine Corps has 3 missions: 1. We make Marines 2. We win our Nation's battles 3. We return quality citizens. Once again, this time in a Marines most vulnerable stage of their personal and professional lives, we have to do more with less. I have personally lost job opportunities due to local commanders putting restrictions on this DOD policy. Now, without simply complaining and with the goal of making it better for both the Organization and our servicemembers, I have an idea. I call it, the Summer Internship Program. Simply stated, move the 180 days of skill bridge from the terminal portion of a Marines career, and allow servicemembers to apply to companies and work as interns for 30 days each summer. This can be done on-site, hybrid, or virtually based on today's job market. This will allow three things to happen; 1. The servicemember gets exposure to the industry outside the military and in doing so, gains a clearer picture of what they would like to decide moving forward (reenlistment or separation). 2. The organization and its units can stagger this like any other program which requires planning and preparation (like the calibrations program). 3. Companies have a chance to familiarize themselves with potential future employees and build pipelines into the active duty community. Returning servicemembers can and WILL talk about their experiences with their contemporaries and this will encourage more to seek employment with those companies. I know this requires patience, and adaptation of concepts which for certain servicemembers may be challenging. It certainly doesn't fill all the gaps, but it's better than dangling a carrot only to use the very stick that you hang it to lead. Our servicemembers deserve more, from the 20-year servicemember who always gave in to 'the needs of the Corps', to the first termer who has just begun their professional careers and seeks change. We all deserve better than that.
The Marine Corps has decided that the Department of Defense's 180-day policy for junior Marines is excessive, so they have reduced it to 120 days, while the Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Army continue with the 180-day policy. I would accept this decision if the general who signed it and the generals involved in the decision are prohibited from taking jobs with any defense industrial base. Where virtually every retired general ends up with a guaranteed 200k+ salary combined. These generals can create policies like this knowing they have job security. They don't understand what it's like to try to get a job without the connections, power, and influence that come with holding a high office- without a degree, etc. A gap meant to be filled by Skillbridge. https://lnkd.in/etfYhJ9P

#TalentManagementTuesday Retention. Retention was one of, if not the, critical difference between pre/post AVF. Emphasizing retention would drive down costs associated with continuous turnover, increase experience / capability, and create the forces in being the US required. This became more important with the increased levels of technical occupations the US military relies upon. Great to see the Marine Corps moving beyond the “recruit and replace” model to “invest and retain.” #usmc #marines #strategy #people #HR #defense #military https://lnkd.in/eQjZmDzy

Teammates, colleagues & friends, The Air and Space Force needs your help. You may’ve heard of a new program to help inspire young Americans to join to the Air and Space Force called AFA Inspire Military Service (AIMS).?AIMS?is a partnership between the Air & Space Forces Association and AFRS and connects AFA’s nationwide network of 200+ Chapters with AFRS’ 1,100 professional recruiters. Together, we will inspire the next generation of Airmen and Guardians. Only 23 percent of American youth today are eligible for military service. Less than 10 percent of today’s youth are even interested. With all the rounds of BRACC base closings in the 1990s, most young adults never even see an air force base or a person in uniform.?We need your help and leadership - no longer to lead a Squadron through a deployment, or motivate a wing for a major inspection, but rather to use your stories and experiences to inspire your young men and women, in your communities, to serve. In fiscal 2023, Active-duty recruiting fell short of the goal by about 11 percent, while Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard recruiting were even further behind—30 percent under goal. We must reinspire our nation. If you feel so inclined, please reach out to your local AFA AIMS lead and see where you might make a difference, again.? Sign up, tell your story. Inspire some young man or woman to serve.?How did you get to the recruiter’s door? How did that work out for you??I’d venture it turned out to be a great career choice for you – share that, share all your stories that make you smile when you reflect on your Air Force experience and share those. Share the stories that make you proud of your time in uniform. ?You may have hung up that uniform, but you still have a voice - make a difference in someone’s life & help strengthen the Nation at the same time. Questions? Like to sign up??Suggestions? Contact us to get involved → https://www.afa.org/AIMS/

A lot of transitioning service members ask me why the Reserves? My response is why not the Navy Reserves? All transitioning service members and veterans felt the sense of call to serve their country, for most members that doesn’t just turn off when you get out. Transitioning out of the military is hard because their is a loss of identity, title, and role in one’s life. Even if you have the best job lined up there is nothing that will compare to your time servicing and the experiences that you were able to have. So many service members say that would have stayed on active duty if it wasn’t for this or that (fill in the blank of the various reasons). The Reserves capability, capacity, and opportunities I truly believe takes most if not all of those barriers away. A member doesn’t want to be serving in a full time status anymore? Great the reserves asks you to serve 36 days a year. Need more flexibility of when you’re asked to serve instead of mandated? Flexibility drilling allows you reschedule any drill as long as it works with your command. Your body has physical been affected and you don’t want to continue the wear and tear on it? Members in the reserves will receive both their VA disability compensation and drill pay with their claim only being financially stopped the days they are actively drilling never being asked to go back to their sea going job. I personally believe the reserves is the best kept secret in the Navy for those that feel they can no longer answer the call of active duty but want to continue to make an impact, serve their country, and take care of their family’s well being. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with anyone who has any questions or interest about the Navy Reserves. If this is you or someone you know that could benefit from this in anyway please reach out. #navy #navyreserves #transitioningmilitarymembers #veteranshelpingveterans #careeropportunities

#Streaming #Thursday 5 PM CT | 3 PM PT DR. DURR'S LIVING IN THE SWEET SPOT How Veteran Employment is Set-Up to Fail Veterans are at increased risk of committing suicide within the first year of leaving active duty and suffering job loss within 2 years after becoming a civilian. This is in direct contrast to the expectations of both veterans and employers, who expect great workplace success but are often mistaken and disappointed. Why are veterans more likely to fail in the civilian workplace the more successful they are in the military? What active duty supports and resources are lacking in civilian life? How do we—the loved ones, community, and businesses—help facilitate their successful transition to employment? With special guest, U.S. Navy Capt. (ret.) ? William Toti, author of “From CO to CEO: A Practical Guide for Transitioning from Military to Industry Leadership, discusses these questions and offers solutions to facilitate veterans’ successful transition to civilian employment. #DDLSS #DrDurrsLivingInTheSweetSpot #veterans #employment #mentalhealth #PTSD #trauma #leadership #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalwellness #successmindset #author #personaldevelopment

#DoDSkillBridge companies - why is every #ServiceMembers #SkillBridge process different, and why are you being asked to provide different documents? The DoD allows each Branch a certain bit of autonomy to run their #SkillBridgeProgram how they see fit. So the Navy program is facilitated differently than the Army program. ???? The Army and Air Force have very streamlined programs. ???? Junior / Senior Enlisted / Officer CONUS / OCONUS ... doesn't matter. They all go through the same process. Most soldiers and airmen receive their #SkillBridge approval in about 2 weeks. The Navy, Marine Corp, and Coast Guard processes are slightly less streamlined. I've seen sailors take 4 months to get their #DoDSkillBridge paperwork approved. As company reps it's important for you to stay apprised of the process for #ServiceMembers so you know what to expect. ?? Bookmark the Resources page which has all of the individual Branches #SkillBridge policies. Link will be posted in the comments.

Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Carlos Ruiz, emphasizes the importance of improving barracks conditions for enlisted Marines. He believes that if the military expects volunteers to serve, it is essential to provide them with safe and comfortable living spaces. Ruiz compares Marines to Division I athletes, stating that they deserve proper support. The Marine Corps has unveiled its Barracks 2030 plan, which aims to revamp living quarters and address issues such as mold and broken appliances. The plan requires a significant investment, with $274 million allocated for barracks modernization in Fiscal Year 2025. The United States Marine Corps has also requested an additional $230 million for this purpose. Ruiz assures that Marines are not asking for luxury, but rather for decent living conditions while fulfilling their duty. The focus on improving barracks aligns with the Corps' commitment to both modernization and the well-being of its personnel. #USMC #MarineCorps #BarracksImprovement #EnlistedMarines #MilitaryHousing #Barracks2030 #InfrastructureInvestment #SafetyandComfort #MarineWellbeing #MilitaryModernization #SupportOurTroops #InvestInOurMilitary #MilitaryLife #MarineLeadership
