In the film adaptation of Starship Troopers, the Roughnecks Mobile Infantry Unit have a creed: “Everyone fights. No one quits.” FYI, this line is not in Robert A. Heinlein’s novel. Here’s a “leader” who definitely doesn’t believe in this motto. A: My staff is sooo lazy! We’re already behind on deadlines and half of them aren’t doing anything. They just want to collect a check without performing any work. B: Didn’t you interview and hire these people? A:?<<Silence>> B: Also, when you onboarded your staff, didn’t you explain job responsibilities and expectations to them? A: What are you getting at? B: If you had one troublesome subordinate, then that would be an outlier. As defined in the HR Policy, you would apply the following corrective procedure for that employee: Verbal warning (First Offense), Negative performance review with defined remediation plan (Second Offense), Job termination (Third and Final Offense). However, since you manage 20 people, you are claiming that at least 10 people are not meeting job requirements. You clearly didn’t explain job requirements to your staff. If you did, then you obviously didn’t inform them that there are dire consequences for bad job performance. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have this situation. This is not a bad employee issue; this is a leadership problem which is entirely your fault. A: What are you suggesting then? B: For each of these bad employees, you’ll have to initiate HR’s corrective procedure. Under those guidelines, you’ll need to properly explain job requirements so employees know that they will ultimately be terminated if they don’t meet those standards. In the meantime, to meet your deadlines, you’ll have to be a hands-on supervisor and perform any work to fill in deficiencies. For future hires, you need to screen your candidates better. If they’re not performing due to incompetence, then you need to ask skillset-specific questions. If laziness is an issue, then you need to determine what motivates them to get up in the morning to do an excellent job. Frankly speaking, you wanted sympathy from me when you started this conversation. I don’t feel sorry for you at all. #Whenthecluelessfollowtheblindfollowthelazytheorderdoesntmatter

1 周I commented on this the other day. As a woman and veteran; women and men both serve their purpose. Ultimately, it should be the woman's choice. If she can meet every assessment and the grueling "positive reinforcement" break you down to build you up sessions her peers go through then there should be no argument. I would like to know in further detail what he means by "war becomes harder"? Is this because of intimate relationships? I'm not sure what he is referring to. Some men can't pass these courses, exams and sessions whilst some women can. I'm keen to hear his thought processes and would love to talk through it with him to gain insight if nothing else.
