Here is why I don't want to be involved with any sort of a dealer-sponsored TV or projector competition, shootout, showdown, or whatever you want to call it: If you associate yourself with such an event then you are associating yourself with the results of such an event. The problem is that I have never—not once—seen an event like that run in a way that would be viewed as scientifically valid. There are always good intentions, but there are just too many variables at play. The result is such events need to be regarded as entertainment. Do they yield good suggestions? Sure, the winner is typically a top performer. The cream rises to the top. However, the single biggest issue with the events is the most basic one of all: the dealer sponsorship. There is no dealer interested in giving an award that they paid for to a product that they don't sell........ That was the mic drop moment. I'm done.

About a month ago, I had the opportunity to submit a proposal for The One Club for Creativity's Where Are All the Black People? (WAATPB) Pitch Competition. The client? Delta Air Lines While my pitch wasn't ultimately chosen, I had SO much fun exploring ways that Delta can better show up and appeal to its Black consumers! The brief was simple: Provide two event recommendations in which Delta can meaningfully connect with Black #GenZ and #Millenial consumers rooted in their passion points (fashion, music, food, etc.) My answer: The Bill Picket Invitational Rodeo and Afronation!?????? Both events cater to audiences that put their unique culture on full display! From strategic brand #partnerships to interactive activations, the goal is to further solidify Delta as a brand that connects the world one flight at a time! Here’s some perspective. For Super Bowl LVII, it was reported that an estimated 1.4 million pounds of supplies were transported to the stadium, including team gear, broadcast equipment, and materials for the halftime show. That’s the weight of about 350 cars, all meticulously packed, shipped, and delivered on schedule. Without this precise coordination, the big day simply wouldn’t happen. The supply chain doesn’t stop with the teams, though. For fans, over 17 million wings are consumed on Super Bowl Sunday. Think about the planning required to keep grocery shelves stocked for one of the biggest food days of the year. And if you’re at the stadium? Vendors prepare to sell 50,000 hot dogs, 5,000 gallons of nacho cheese, and countless beverages to keep fans fueled and ready to cheer. Then there’s the halftime show. For just 12 minutes of unforgettable entertainment, hundreds of workers spend months orchestrating the setup, teardown, and transport of approximately 300 tons of stage equipment. That level of precision? Logistics is the force behind it. Even the stadium itself transforms into a temporary city. With more than 70,000 attendees, there are hundreds of thousands of parking spaces to manage, security checkpoints to staff, and tens of miles of cables powering the lights, sound, and screens. Add to that the coordination of ticketing systems, merchandise sales, and cleaning crews, and you’ve got a masterpiece of synchronization.
