?? Powering West Virginia Since 1980! ??? Let's take a moment to appreciate the incredible legacy of the Mountaineer Power Plant in Mason County, West Virginia. For over four decades, this powerhouse has been the backbone of our state's energy supply, reliably delivering cheap and dependable electric power to the Mountain State. From its single coal-fired unit, the Mountaineer Power Plant churns out an impressive 8 million megawatt hours of electricity every year, all fueled by 4 million tons of high-quality West Virginia coal. This remarkable output is a testament to the plant's efficiency and dedication to meeting the energy needs of our communities. But the impact of the Mountaineer Power Plant extends far beyond just electricity production. With 299 direct employees and an additional 677 indirect jobs supported by its operations, the plant plays a vital role in supporting local employment. The plant's total annual payroll of $83 million not only sustains families but also drives economic growth across the region. When we talk about economic impact, the Mountaineer Power Plant truly stands tall. Its total economic footprint in the state exceeds $619 million annually, contributing significantly to the prosperity of West Virginia. And let's not forget about the $11.5 million in state and local taxes collected each year, further supporting essential services and infrastructure in our communities. As we reflect on the Mountaineer Power Plant's contributions over the years, let's celebrate its resilience, efficiency, and unwavering commitment to powering our state forward. Here's to many more years of reliable and affordable energy from this West Virginia icon! ???? #MountaineerPowerPlant #WestVirginiaPride #EconomicImpact #PoweringTheFuture

Breaking New Ground in Minnesota!!! Minnesota is pioneering an innovative approach to infrastructure by permitting the construction of power lines alongside its highways. Traditionally, utility routes carve paths through private lands, leading to complex negotiations and potential delays. Minnesota's new strategy offers a paradigm shift—one where efficiency meets practical use of space. This policy leap means: - Swift, streamlined development of crucial energy transport corridors. - Minimizing environmental impact by using existing state-owned right-of-way. - Reducing the need for disruptive land acquisition processes. Championing this move is not only about optimizing resources, it's about embracing a future where utility and transportation harmoniously coexist. With highway-side power lines, the state sets a benchmark for responsible, forward-thinking urban planning. #Minnesota #Infrastructure #SustainableDevelopment

These are the types of results that make me see the impact this administration is having.
We are thrilled to share a recent success story about our partnership with Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA, and Ricky L. Clark, Jr., City Manager of the City of Forest Park. In Mr. Clark's effort to achieve ambitious improvement goals within the first 100 days of taking office, securing funding was paramount. When he heard of a contingency-based utility review that promises significant savings without any out-of-pocket costs, Mr. Clark wasted no time in setting up a meeting with us to learn more. After a thorough review, we're delighted to report we found over $16,000 in annual savings! This not only demonstrates Mr. Clark and Mayor Butler's commitment to fiscal responsibility but also reinforces their dedication to making impactful changes for the betterment of Forest Park. We were delighted to help them and their citizens. #cityofforestpark #georgia #utilities #savings #UMS

?? More federal funding is coming to Miami-Dade County! The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded us $4.7 million under the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program, supporting the installation of 390 charging ports across 73 community locations – including libraries, parks, transit hubs, and more. Over 66% of these chargers will be placed in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods, and almost all stations will be located within one mile of these communities. This includes some dedicated to electric car share services to boost transit access. As Mayor Levine Cava Cava said, “We’re creating an equitable network of EV charging stations so every Miami-Dade resident can reap the benefits of electric vehicles.” This project is key to reducing emissions, lowering costs, and improving air quality as we work toward our climate goals. All made possible thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law from the Biden-Harris Administration!

State of California launched a new state website this week to track $180 billion in infrastructure projects over the next 10 years, according to the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom. Build.ca.gov tracks projects that have benefited from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and includes fast-tracked jobs aimed at building a 100% clean electric grid, boosting the state’s water supply and modernizing its transportation system. Newsom signed an executive order last May to establish an Infrastructure Strike Team to remove barriers to project development in California’s notoriously slow permitting process. This should be interesting as funding has been curtailed due to the California fiscal gap. https://lnkd.in/gTfcMeYD

Great points about all that Oil and Gas does.
If #oilandgas in Colorado were to go away, as a few lawmakers envision, much would be lost: Thousands of good-paying jobs; affordable, efficient energy; generous philanthropic efforts; industry's strong commitment to the environment. But what about a park in Wheat Ridge? While the benefits of oil and natural gas are immense, some are less obvious. The City of Wheat Ridge last month issued a press release heralding an $850,000 state grant to help create a “dynamic park and community gathering space” in the city. When completed, Green at 38th will feature an outdoor event space, play structure, stage/outdoor classroom, public art installations, public seating, game tables, a gas fireplace, restrooms, trees and horticulture plantings. Even though there’s no oil and gas drilling near Wheat Ridge, the community benefits from having the industry in Colorado. The money is from an Energy and Mineral Impact Fund grant, paid for by the?severance tax on energy and mineral production that oil and gas companies pay, along with a portion of the state's royalties from federal mining and drilling activities. Twice a year, the Colorado Department of Local Affairs distributes millions of dollars to communities across the state to pay for projects such as parks, recreation centers, libraries, hospitals and wastewater facilities. (https://lnkd.in/ejirv8Rs) In November, DOLA announced $69 million in grants. In July 2023, $37 million was doled out. Last year, $1 million went to build a fire station in Salida; $500,000 went to the library in Eads; nearly $1 million was used to help build a water tank in Manitou Springs; $1 million went to improve a wastewater system in Alma, $1 million helped expand a water treatment plant in DeBeque; $580,000 was used to rehabilitate the Tabor Opera House in Leadville; $1 millon went to the Grand Junction Recreation Center construction; $1.3 million was sent to Steamboat for workforce housing site improvements; and $1.5 million was used for downtown streetscape construction in Eaton. To name a few. When your state lawmaker is thinking about passing a law that negatively impacts Colorado’s oil and natural gas industry – or when activists want to phase it out altogether -- ask them how they plan to replace the hundreds of millions of dollars that go back into our communities for projects we value. Gov. Polis talks about building a #ColoradoforAll and it needs to include a vibrant oil and gas industry because we're #AllinforColorado.

Canary: "Minnesota takes rare step to allow power lines alongside highways." Other states have taken this action or are contemplating it, including Wisconsin, Iowa, California, Washington, Oregon, Maine, New Hampshire. "But states have been slow to shift from long-standing policies that aim to keep highway rights-of-way clear of other infrastructure that could compromise safety, burden transportation departments with unforeseen costs, or restrict the option of expanding highways in the future." In Minnesota, the chief forum for transmission expansions runs through the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), the grid operator for all or part of?15?U.S. states and Canada’s Manitoba province."NextGen Highways?is also lobbying for federal legislation that could support state efforts to site transmission along highways."

The most recent Colorado bills that were put into effect have a strong emphasis on encouraging public transport. See below: 1. HB-1304: Doing Away with Parking Minimums - What is it? Aimed at eliminating or making parking minimums less of a burden for developers of apartments or mixed-use developments, so more people are encouraged to use public transport due to lack of parking. 2. HB-1313: Housing in Transit-Oriented Communities - What is it? Allow for cities to allow for more dense housing development along trains and corridors. 3. SB-230: Oil & Gas Production Fees - What is it? Charge a fee per barrel of oil & gas produced. Expected revenue of $140 million, of which 80% will go into public transit projects. Do you think Denver's public transport infrastructure can support these changes in the near future? #denver #colorado #laws #bills #publictransport #oilandgas #parking #city #transit #government
