Here at Wakeland, it's, it's the atmosphere is that home atmosphere, that family connection that we have. And so if you picture your home, your family, you enjoy their company, you come in here and, and so it may be stressful, it might be a busy time, but it's it, you love it because you know you're supported. So it's that very feeling of like love and nurture that kind of gives you the ability to take risks or take on challenges. And just work through those moments. It's a company that cares about the staff like we're treated as people, not someone who you know, needs to help the bottom line that makes this company like the culture. You know, when you when you're able to have a real life work balance and that's what this organization provides, why leave it? We've had two or three employees that have left and they came right on back. It was like I learned my lesson. Ain't never leaving again. So you know, I've been here for 16 1/2 years and I plan to retire here. From the start, weekends that we are a family and I didn't understand that until I saw it from everybody. Like we all really care about each other. It's amazing that Wakelin has, you know, already reached this milestone. 25 years of the incredible work that we do. I look forward to being here and just knowing that there's more to come. It's exciting because that means that our team is going to become bigger and we're going to have more awesome people. When people hear about Wakelet, they just have nothing but but good things to say about the work that we do and the people that we work with. I feel like working at Wakelet, the employees and my, my colleagues feel like really family to me. There's a lot of people here at Wakeland who I know that in times of crisis or need or that they would be there for me. So it's it's been a great place to work and they're definitely folks that I know I would keep in contact with long. Long after leaving Wickland. Working at Wakeland, it's about purpose. A lot of people talk about how their jobs really don't have a lot of meaning to them, There's something they're doing just to make a living. But always working at Wakeland, you feel like you're doing this for something bigger than you. And that ties back to our mission. We are here to make communities more equitable places, to ensure that people, all people, have a fair chance of success by having an affordable place to live. And for me, that's something. That has made the work meaningful for year after year after year, and it's one of the reasons why I've stayed at Wakeland for over 10 years. You'll find a lot of people here who, like me, have been at Wakeland for over a decade. Some people have been here since the start, 25 years. That's an amazing thing in today's workplace. We don't find that kind of longevity at other organizations. It's a special place and the people here are special and we really do care about. Each other. Well, I've been here for now. It'll be 26 years since January. Since we started, we've had so many changes. We went from two people to basically now over 50, and I've seen so many changes, so many improvements. Every year it just gets bigger and better and I'm just amazed at how many homes we have built for people who really are in need of them. We are a family and we all work so well together. If there's a need for one department that needs everyone, people just get pulled in and we don't worry about that's not my job, that's your job. We all, we do everything. I'm here because I love everybody. We all just are a family picture. I know Wakeland's very rich, very rich in culture, very rich and beliefs and diversity and languages. It's very rich and a lot of things. Most importantly in love, and I think that's what translates over to every project that we build and to every service that we offer that just kind of transfers from here and kind of spreads out. And so it's just a big joy to be part of something so rich like this.
