Days 2, 3, and 4 have different employers (with few exceptions), and each remaining day has different types of opportunities represented. See you all tomorrow on day two of the fair, focusing on employers recruiting for engineering, technology, environment, food, and?agriculture-related positions! Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eAuFmUk8 For those planning to visit the fair, remember that the event is only the start of the recruiting process and not the end. Use the time to make connections, gather contacts to reference in your application materials, get into their recruiting systems as a candidate of interest, try to get on their interview schedules, and ask about their future information sessions! Make the most of your experience. Don't forget to use your #MegaFastPass to bypass the long lines at check-in, assuming you participated in the various career fair prep programs or advising sessions where you could've earned one.

Today, I had the privilege of attending the 2024 STEM Career and Internship Fair at UC Santa Cruz. Engaging with recruiters and delving into discussions about potential job opportunities was an enriching experience. One proactive step I took prior to the event was applying for relevant positions in advance. By doing so, I ensured that recruiters had access to my resume and pertinent information, facilitating seamless conversations and maximizing the impact of our interactions. As I reflect on this experience, I recognize the importance of further proactive measures to enhance future career fair engagements. What other strategies do you recommend for maximizing the effectiveness of these events? Let's continue the discussion! #CareerFair #STEMOpportunities #ProactiveApproach

The Business Career Fair hosted by OSU Career Services this fall was a huge success! With over 170 employers sharing details about internships and full-time opportunities, our MS BAnDS students had the chance to explore potential career paths. Companies from our Corporate Advisory Board were also present, interacting with students and providing valuable information about available roles. Our students made the most of this opportunity to network and explore their future careers. I had a wonderful experience today at the All-major Job and Internship Fair at the University of Texas at Dallas. I had the honor to visit a plethora of career booths, both within my academic major and outside, gaining many valuable lessons and experiences while understanding what recruiters look for. As a student in healthcare studies, I advise anyone interested in career fairs to engage in conversation with the recruiter. While it is an interview, making the conversation flow as smoothly as possible while asking about the career makes your interview more memorable for the recruiter. Researching the company of interest beforehand gives you leverage against others participating in the same interview.

Akshay's experience at the Four Seasons booth exemplifies why career fairs are important to me. By showing initiative and finding common ground with the recruiter, he turned a potentially overwhelming situation into a successful internship opportunity. For job seekers, these events are perfect for showcasing and honing your people skills. My experiences reinforce this idea even for when a person's desired career is not represented. Despite often attending career fairs that didn't specifically cater to my field, I've found immense value in these events. They've served as platforms to expand my network and engage in meaningful interactions, breaking the solitude often associated with contemporary job searching. Moreover, these fairs have honed my ability to spot opportunities in crowded spaces and broadened my interests beyond my initial focus. The conversations and opportunities that stick with me were at recruitment tables that did not have long lines in front of them, where I had time to fully have a conversation about what the company was looking for and how I could still volunteer with them, even if I was not right for the role. Building on Akshay's insights, remember that common courtesy often wins the day. By practicing good manners like offering assistance, actively listening, and sending follow-up emails, you can create lasting impressions that may lead to unexpected opportunities, regardless of your specific career interests. Career fairs are ultimately about personal growth and discovering new possibilities. Don't be afraid to jump in!
How I Landed My Internship at The Four Seasons in 5 minutes My first career fair at NYU was overwhelming. Long lines, intense energy, and a lot of nervous faces. How was I supposed to compete with smarter students than I? At the Four Seasons booth, I didn’t start pitching myself right away. I asked the recruiter if the day was was stressful for her as it was for me. I offered to help fold up the table cloth and wrap up the banner. As we did, she shared about the internship and prioritized my resume. I actually got the internship! But found an even better opportunity later on. You don’t have to be loud or aggressive to stand out at a career fair. It’s about finding common ground, and being confident in your approach. Here are ways to crush it at career fairs, even if you are shy: 1 - Show initiative by offering assistance. 2 - Ask recruiters about their experiences. 3 - Send personalized emails after the fair. 4 - Arriving early and engage when its quiet. 5 - Do your homework by researching companies. Create lasting impressions and turn career fairs into real opportunities. If you're feeling shy or overwhelmed, remember—you’re not alone. What's your most memorable career fair experience? P.S. Want to know how I turned this approach into a Digital Marketing Internship at The Four Seasons? Let's connect!

To those who've already secured summer 2024 internships or new grad roles, I have one piece of advice for you. ?? CONTINUE to take advantage of the career development opportunities your school offers. ? If your school has a Spring 2024 Career Fair, register and attend. ? If your school is hosting an event with a speaker or representative from a specific company, register and attend. ? If your school is hosting a visit to a specific company's office to meet with fellow alumni, register and attend. The truth is, you don't know where the people you meet at such opportunities?could take you one day. Treat such opportunities as door-opening opportunities. The more doors you have open, the more career opportunities you'll have at your disposal. Nowadays, getting a job in this market is not only?WHAT you know but also WHO you know. #Network #Jobhunting #Recruitment ~Kevin

I remember interviewing a young man once. He was fresh out of college and eager to get his career started. A bit unpolished, awkward. But I could tell he was really trying. - He put effort into his presentation. - Showed up to our job fair booth and company presentation - Wore a suit while others wore t-shirts He did internships, joined the college engineering clubs, and even acquired some unnecessary certifications. He also sent the entire team "thank you" emails. But he didn't interview all that well, and he was a nervous wreck. Despite all of this, we still offered him the job. The hiring manager said, "There may have been some candidates who interviewed better, but they didn't even bother to learn my name.?I can train someone how to be an engineer, but I can't train eagerness and attitude." As expected, he exceeded expectations and now attends those same hiring events...but now as a hiring manager. You don't always have to be the most qualified on paper to land the job. Your attitude, desire, and motivation can make all the difference.
