This morning I listened to an inspiring TED Talk by Will Guidara, the restaurateur behind some of the most unforgettable hospitality experiences. In his talk, The Secret Ingredients of Great Hospitality, Will shares how a simple act of serving a two-dollar hot dog in a fancy four-star restaurant transformed a regular dining experience into something truly extraordinary. His approach—what he calls “unreasonable hospitality”—is all about going above and beyond to create meaningful, personalised moments. It's about being present, truly listening to what people are saying (and not saying), and offering more than what’s expected. This idea can apply to every aspect of life, not just hospitality. Whether building relationships with friends, family, or colleagues or working with clients or customers, it’s about creating genuine connections and offering experiences that exceed expectations. Let’s all take a moment this week to think about how we can bring a little more unreasonable hospitality into our lives—by being present, listening deeply, and offering more than what’s asked.
