It was an honor to have worked with Preetish Nijhawan and an even greater honor to have known him. Preetish was the first one to truly believe in StackShare. We met in 2016 when I was fundraising. A small handful of investors wanted to be a part of the round but no one wanted to lead. Then Jocelyn Goldfein introduced me to Preetish and Neeraj Gupta and everything changed. Cervin ended up leading StackShare's seed round and investing $1M. It's hard to overstate how important that was for the company. Not only was it the largest investment we'd received, but at the time, being able to raise $1M+ as an unproven founder with no experience was extremely rare. Add to that, StackShare was focused on building a community so it wasn't the typical enterprise software company that Cervin invests in. In so many ways, Preetish made a huge bet on me. Preetish joined StackShare's board as part of the seed round, and over the years he coached me and helped me learn how to run a company. And more importantly, he did it with compassion. Because he had been a founder himself, it always felt like he understood exactly what I was going through and the true weight of the decisions that I faced. I've said this before, but a lot of investors say that they're founder friendly, while few actually are. Preetish was one of the few. He showed me some tough love but he was always fair and gave it to me straight, and I respected him tremendously for that. The level of dedication and compassion Preetish showed for founders was incredible. It didn't matter what time of day or what was going on in his own life, he always made my company a priority. Whether it was hopping on a quick call at 3am to give me advice or signing documents on the way back from a doctor's visit. There are countless stories I could tell from the 9+ years I knew Preetish that show how dedicated he was to supporting me, so I can't imagine how many other founders he's impacted throughout his career. Preetish, thank you for changing the lives of so many founders, including mine.

Winning the best 2023 Strata Management Business Award, for medium business, was an incredibly proud moment given the challenges we faced in 2023.?I'm so proud of the team and how they stepped up to navigate the obstacles thrown at us last year. Starting 2023 with our two senior strata managers unexpectedly off work for various health reasons, and missing the first half of the year, and our senior accounts manager also off for the first few months of the year for health reasons, it really meant the rest of the team needed to dig deep and rise above the challenges. ?It was not easy, and not all of the team survived, with an increased turnover due to the phyco-social hazards that are unfortunately becoming the norm in strata.?A key focus we needed to adopt across the leadership team was cultivating a resilient and agile workforce, and it was only in second half of the year that this started to pay off. ?The saying, “the cream always rises to the top” proved true, with several of our assistant managers that had been with us for a couple of years and learning under our training platforms, able to take the next step and transition into successful managers. ?This year is opposite to last year, we have started the year with a couple of senior managers joining the team and now have 7 strata managers with between 3 to +20 years’ experience and a new generation now starting out on their strata journey, bring on 2024!!?

Very unexpected recognition by the CTIA on behalf of my industry peers & colleagues, thank you! Since ~2016 or 2017 and under Michelle James, Marin Galvin & Jeremy Willis's leadership, a group of us have tried to develop grading standards for used phones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches... The objective is to create a common language to minimize misunderstandings, reduce friction, and ultimately support the reverse logistics & used consumer electronics industry. Our working group launched 3 new multi-year projects in 2024: 1. Encumbrances. This is a global pain point, which nobody has an?answer for. When a device is on some kind of financial payment plan for example, it should not be traded-in. Yet the buyer will only realize this a few weeks later after one or two payments have been missed and the device is bricked. Solving this will require that large OEMs and especially large carriers play nice. The problem is complex, the resolution even more so. Solving this would benefit the whole industry, across the globe and up & down the value chain.? 2. Global expansion. New this?year, we are starting to work with UK,?German & Dutch groups of companies trying to do the?same. CE products move around globally, standards can't be geographically limited.?I'd love introductions to other industry groups if you know any.? 3. D2C standards: Last but not least, and what I am most involved in. The objective here is to align on a broad set of minimum standards that every marketplace would share with end consumers. Same as above, we have many participants but a select few companies are still missing at the table.
