The biggest ones that come to mind are Rosetta Stone and resume builders like Rezi. But do they truly work for long-term growth? With active subscribers in the U.S. dropping 10% from 2023 to 2024, consumers are prioritizing quality over quantity. For any businesses considering a lifetime subscription model, take into account... 1) Market volatility: Some industries, like CPG, may still be too unpredictable for lifetime offers. 2) Consumer commitment: With evolving behaviors, consumers may hesitate to lock into long-term commitments when their needs are constantly changing. However, if customers see undeniable value, they might be willing to invest. There's room for brands to understand this balance and leverage lifetime subscriptions as a competitive advantage. With so many subscription providers out there, it can be overwhelming trying to pick the right one for your brand. There seem to be hundreds of features and each platform has different ones — so cutting through the noise and seeing what's actually a robust feature can be hard. Here's some advice if you're looking for your first provider or want to migrate to a new one: Focus on depth rather than breadth of features. Some providers will list dozens of features, making them seem "better" than others — but if those features aren't deeply built out, you won't get the most from them. Especially for enterprises or businesses at scale, those shiny "out-of-the-box" features won't do you much good — You'll likely need custom-built features and flexibility from the provider. Ask these questions when deciding on a subscription platform:? ? How many subscribers can they support?? ? Do they have reporting around reliability?? ? How robust is their API?? ? Can they build custom features for your needs? Choosing a subscription provider is a difficult, but crucial choice every DTC brand must make when launching a recurring model.
