As some of you may be aware, I serve as a trustee for CureLeukaemia, a charity that holds a special place in my heart. Startling statistics reveal that one person in the UK is diagnosed with a form of Blood Cancer every 14 minutes. Companies now have the opportunity to invest ￡10,000 in an innovative trial network for children with the aim of raising ￡1 million. Salesforce is taking the lead in this initiative with a ￡10,000 pledge. CureLeukaemia's committed team is working towards securing 50 companies by the end of the year, which would amount to ￡500,000 in contributions. At the recent L2P Celebration event, four companies each pledged ￡10,000, bringing the total to five out of the targeted 50 companies. There are still 45 more companies to reach the goal. This #FundHolderFriday, we spotlight the Teledyne e2v Fund. Teledyne e2v are one of the largest private employers in Essex, with their base in Chelmsford as well as operations all over the world. Their global footprint of offices, including France, Spain, China and the USA provide the chance for real innovation, achieving ground-breaking improvements in cancer radiotherapy systems to world-class space imaging, Teledyne are present in virtually most major industries developing advanced technologies and software. The company celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2007 and as part of its celebrations, they committed to long-term support for local charities by establishing the Teledyne e2v Foundation. The fund is a key part of the overall charitable activities of the company. Their work includes support for charities local to, and affecting, its employees in all its global facilities. As well as encouragement for employees to become more involved in local fundraising, by match funding against their individual efforts. Naturally, the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) grant is a cause close to their heart, with it aligning with their business ethos. Other grants that have been awarded in the last 2 years include: English for Women: Supporting with running costs of an organisation dedicated to teaching English as a second language in Chelmsford. Families in Focus: The Teledyne e2v Fund helps support a weekly activity club in Chelmsford for children with SEND and their families. Since it was established in June 2006 with ECF, nearly ￡125,000 has been awarded for local charities.
