Electrification of heavy duty vehicles in ports is absolutely possible and a major contributor to reduce the local carbon footprint of the maritime industry. DP World's London Gateway Hub operates Kalmar electric straddle carrier fleets at its latest 4th "all-electric terminal" opened in November. The 60 tons vehicles charge in just 45 minutes to 100% at 8 high power satellite charging stations provided by Kempower. This is very impressive and a great example of terminal operators who take responsibility for innovation to decarbonise the maritime sector.
