A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to protecting our environment. Preserving our forests is not something we can leave to others - it’s a responsibility we are committed to taking on ourselves. For us, this means not only fostering awareness about forest conservation in everyday life but also providing younger generations with practical experiences that help them value nature. When we talk about an ecologically sustainable future, it is vital to focus on those who will inherit it: our children. We are especially proud to have partnered with Waldfreunde gGmbH and their managing to plant a total of 2,000 trees - a project we were delighted to sponsor. On that day, 40 children joined the effort, not only learning about the invaluable forest ecosystem but also having a lot of fun in the process. Their enthusiasm and curiosity were truly inspiring! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this initiative possible. Together, we can make a real impact on regional environmental protection and created lasting memories for the next generation.

Read our reflections and see the highlights of 2024 which kicked off with an epic celebration of our First 100 in February. Read:?https://lnkd.in/gAQr_m2w It’s been a crazy 12 months and we’ve now permanently protected over 230,000 square metres of precious Australian biodiversity. We’ve launched ground-breaking products with partners like al.ive body? that prove businesses can protect the planet whilst bringing customers on the journey. As well as showing how credits can be connected to events and staff gifts to embed impact into everything we do and build biodiversity protection into our business operations. All of this has been possible thanks to you – the Wilderlands community. Thank-you for being on this journey with us right from the very start. We can’t wait to see what’s possible in 2025 as we connect with more people and partners passionate about protecting our precious biodiversity, forever. What melts up there, matters down here. We’re so excited to celebrate the launch of an incredible piece of work from icebreaker and Protect Our Winters. DOWNSTREAM explores the impact of glacier loss on our planet and our downstream communities globally, spanning three catchments across Europe, the USA and New Zealand. ? One of those regions is our local Waitaki River, and we teamed up with POW to produce this section of the documentary. We travelled the Waitaki catchment and met with ZQRX growers David and Lisa Anderson at Bog Roy Station and Professor David Norton, exploring how regenerative agriculture can serve a crucial role in protecting our planet, our ecosystems, and the future we all share. ? Well done to the teams at icebreaker and Protect Our Winters on this impactful piece of work, driving meaningful action for a better future. DOWNSTREAM. Just six months after the deployment of our artificial reefs, we witnessed transformative results for our local fishermen in Pondicherry. Embracing sustainable fishing practices, now they are earning between Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 daily, a significant uplift from their previous income. This success is complemented by their transition to hook-and-line methods, ensuring only adult fish are caught and safeguarding our juvenile marine life. This project is not just about enhancing livelihoods; it's a stride towards ecological sustainability, demonstrating the profound impact of our collective efforts towards conservation. This achievement is a clear testament to the power of sustainable initiatives in transforming lives and revitalising our oceans. It reinforces our belief that together, we can overcome challenges and build a brighter, more sustainable future for the coastal communities of Pondicherry.

We recently collaborated with the Clonbeale Peatland Conservation Project in County Offaly in? order to raise awareness for critical environmental initiatives. This peatland restoration project is being undertaken by the Tullamore Lions Club, spearheaded by member Michael Caroll. The project is working to bring the bog back to life, reducing carbon emissions, supporting biodiversity, and creating a sustainable space for the local community. Through thoughtful visuals and strategic content, we helped communicate their mission to a wider audience, further aided by a children’s book created by Tullamore Lions Club along with Dolores Keaveney to share this critical information with a younger audience - titled ‘The Lions, The bees, and The bogs’.? If your organization has a story worth sharing, we’d love to help amplify your impact. #LionsCLub #CharityIreland #ClonbealePeatlandConservationProject
