Happy #SocialSaturday..... Today, let's remember those who have bravely served us - our military and veteran communities. We invite you to support the Missouri Warrior to Wellness Program, an initiative that is more than just a cause. It's a movement towards saving lives and promoting mental health. Your generous donations to Help Our Heroes, a certified 501c3 organization, are not only tax deductible, but they also serve as a pillar for this trailblazing mental health program. Our mission is to provide continuous mental health care, advocacy, and outreach to our heroes. In collaboration with entities like the Department of Veteran Affairs, Missouri's Governor's Challenge, Missouri Health and Human Services, various mental health organizations, and philanthropic bodies, we believe we can drive change. But to achieve this, we need your help. Here's how you can make a difference: 1. Support the startup phase through donations and assist in securing corporate sponsorships. 2. Join forces with your local veteran-focused nonprofit. 3. Share this message far and wide. 4. Advocate for our cause by writing to your local Senators and Representatives from Missouri and Kansas to pass supportive legislation. ***To mental health professionals willing to lend their expertise, we welcome you to join us. Please reach out to Trisha Houghton and Marcus Pierre. ***For organizations offering essential support services to Veterans and military communities in Kansas and Missouri, we encourage you to connect with John C King and myself. Let's remember, our collective effort can significantly impact our Veterans and military communities' lives. Support OPK9 by becoming a Corporate Partner The cost of serving our nation can sometimes be unbearably high. We know that veterans experience suicide and PTSD at much higher levels than the civilian population. We need to do everything we can to support the men and women who serve. The See Differently OPK9 program has been providing veterans with PTSD with highly trained, life changing assistance dogs for the past 10 years. The program is funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs as well as generous individuals and corporate partners. We are a community-minded charity and we love working with our corporate partners - it's truly a partnership where we all benefit. And we're working together to make life better for veterans and their families. We couldn't be more grateful for the support from our corporate partners, which keeps this program going strong. With their help, we can continue providing assistance dogs to veterans in need. If you believe your business could make a difference by partnering with us, click the link to find out more >>?https://bit.ly/3EMxT0T. Oklahoma Native American Veterans go from homeless to housed. How VA is addressing barriers for Native American Veterans. The words “homeless” and “Veteran” should not exist together, and ensuring Veterans have access to services that can help them with homelessness is amongst VA’s top priorities. Homelessness among Native American Veterans is of special focus for VA as Native Americans serve in the military at higher rates than other subpopulations of Americans. But part of accessing these services is being aware of them. It’s crucial for VA to make Veterans aware of the services they have access to, particularly when it comes to VA’s homeless assistance resources.? This month is?National Native American Heritage Month?which acknowledges the history and critical contributions of Native people along with Native American Heritage Day (November 24) when their rich culture, accomplishments and heritage are honored and celebrated. In honor of that, we’re proud to spotlight our video series From Homeless to Housed: Stories From Native American Veterans Assisted Through VA. This video features the inspiring stories of Native American Veterans in Oklahoma who overcame homelessness after becoming aware of and accessing services through VA’s programs. https://lnkd.in/gGw3zsm5

A powerful and informative video and research. Worth a watch!
The National Home Visiting Resource Center (NHVRC) has released two products highlighting the potential role of home visiting in meeting the diverse needs of unhoused families. A new brief, entitled “Home Visiting as Part of a Holistic Approach to Supporting Unhoused Families,” linked here, https://urbn.is/4apn5Vk, introduces three agencies that include home visiting as part of their comprehensive approach (New Moms, Lydia Place, Reach Dane); it also provides a statewide look at Minnesota’s collaborations with the Ojibwe Nation and various nonprofits. The brief concludes with a list of strategies for other home visiting programs to consider when serving people in similar circumstances. Their latest video, “Building on Strengths: Reaching Unhoused Families With Home Visiting Parent Support Programs,” provides a firsthand look at services delivered by Washington-based Lydia Place and the agency’s decision to incorporate home visiting to help break the cycle of homelessness. Two parents also share their experiences with the agency and how home visiting has influenced their lives. https://urbn.is/3v44H46
