?? No one should be held back by a period. But millions of women and girls miss out on work and school because they lack access to products, education, and support. Today, #Essity launches a new report in the UK highlighting the scale of period inequity that continues to burden our communities - alongside In Kind Direct, Irise International and several other charities and education institutes. Whilst we continue to donate our products and educate, we are calling for the root cause of the problem to be tackled by government. ?? Research note of the WEEK! ?? I am constantly reminded of the importance of education in unlocking potential especially for youth from underrepresented communities. Education is a powerful tool for empowerment and transformation, yet many young people still face systemic barriers that limit their opportunities and hinder their growth. Our mission at the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation is to bridge this gap by providing resources, mentorship, and access to pathways that enable every young person to succeed, regardless of their background. We believe in a world where all young people can pursue their dreams and contribute meaningfully to society. This work isn’t about charity, it’s about justice, representation, and creating opportunities that should be accessible to all. To those young people pushing through challenges and reaching for something greater—know that you are the future we believe in. We’re here to support you, advocate for you, and ensure your journey is filled with possibility and promise. Let’s work together to make education a true equalizer. We absolutely LOVE to see our clients thriving, and when The Jack Petchey Foundation told us they'd been able to pull a report, rather than sitting and going through 20 years of reports ?? on Salesforce, we smiled. The team wanted to recognise volunteers who had gone (more than) the extra mile, and went into Salesforce to pull a VERY special report... take a read here to be inspired: https://buff.ly/3W0R5QV #salesforce #Salesforceforfoundations #Foundations #salesforce #timesaved #salesforceimpact #salesforcenonprofit #impact #fundraising #impactfultech #salesforcenpc #nonprofitcloud #grantmaking #grantmakers #foundations #grants #salesforce #technology #foundationtechnology #tech #grantmakerstories

Earlier this week, several of our Principle team members were at #Lab24 conference in Liverpool, the party's first entering Government this year. Some highlights and insights. Jane Cox and Becky Hug attended a Women in Public Affairs (WiPA) event which featured Commons Leader Lucy Powell MP and Cabinet Officer Minister Abena Oppong-Asare MP - filled with energy and aspiration for women's contribution in public affairs and beyond. Next, it was brilliant to hear Schools Minister Catherine McKinnell MP at the panel event we supported our client nurtureuk with on what it means to build an inclusive school system. Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook MP joined the New Statesman/Nationwide Foundation event on all things housing (Action for Children, Barnardo's, National Children's Bureau, NSPCC and The Children's Society), which had queues out the door. We're excited to have brought this together and seen solutions, keenness and energy for providing good affordable and safe housing for all. And Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson gave a fantastic talk at the #ChildrenAtTheTable reception. We were very proud to see this is where the campaign has grown to, with children’s voices front and centre and making a real impact - the 15 children who spoke were remarkable. So, what are our key takeaways? 1. New ministers are in 'listening mode' and generally keen to engage. It was energising to hear from a range of well-informed and thoughtful expert panels on health, social care, education and housing. 2. It was promising to hear ministers recognising the interplay between all these various issues areas, and therefore the need for cross-departmental working in Government. This should factor into how charities approach ministers. 3. The conference was encouraging from a charity sector perspective, with ministers we heard from keen to hear views and expertise from civil society organisations. 4. And there appears to be recognition that homes are the foundation of our lives and communities, and therefore that addressing the housing crisis must be a priority in order to improve outcomes across mental health, physical health, education and jobs. #InfluencingWithPrinciple #CharityCampaigns #PublicAffairs

Burnout, turnover, and implosion are some of the biggest hurdles being faced by so many movement, organizing, and power-building organizations today. What is philantrhopy’s role in resourcing and supporting grantees so that they can pay living wages, address internal conflicts and tensions, and ensure transition plans that minimize disruption of the work? Read about some of it in this EBCF article, and let me know your thoughts!
With the rising costs of living in the Bay Area, the nonprofit sector is faced with new challenges to retain skilled staff, adjust to living wages, and address staff burnout — all while responding to increased demands for services due to growing inequities. EBCF co-hosted a first-of-its-kind convening with RYSE Youth Center and the Bay Area Power Building Funders Table (BAPBT) on the working conditions of youth organizers in the Bay Area. Financial instability is an increasing concern, and youth organizers often have to participate in the gig economy with multiple jobs to piece together a living wage in order to meet the high cost of living. Read about what we heard from young frontline organizers on what funders can do to address these challenges and how EBCF and BAPBT will pursue these recommendations in 2024. https://lnkd.in/ecZr4dxf

How can we help improve Literacy Rate Globally, the youth literacy rate increased from 83 percent to 91 percent over two decades, while the number of illiterate youths declined from 170 million to 115 million. Regional and gender disparities persist, however. Literacy is lowest in the least developed countries and higher among males than females ? The Urgent Need for Sustainable SEND Funding As a SEND-focused charity, Fortune College provides alternative education that transforms lives – helping young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities gain education, confidence, resilience, and real-world skills through therapeutic, hands-on experiences. Yet, with the Department for Education projecting a £4.3 to £4.9 billion deficit in SEND funding by 2026, it’s clear the current system is unsustainable. This funding shortfall not only impacts the quality and reach of SEND services but also affects countless young lives waiting for support that might never come. Our work, alongside many other organizations, fills a critical gap. But the reality is: passion alone can’t fund the future. For our students to thrive, we need a reimagined commitment to SEND funding—one that enables innovation, values impactful programs, and, above all, invests in every young person’s potential. Let’s raise our voices to shape a system that supports every child, every need, and every dream. #SEND #SENDFunding #EducationMatters #LearningThroughHorses #InclusionMatters
