The Transition Is Almost Complete As my retirement from the Marine Corps draws near well here since I got my DD-214 now , it’s a moment of reflection—a chance to look back on over two decades of service, countless challenges, and invaluable lessons. Leaving behind the structure, camaraderie, and purpose the military provides is no small task, but it’s also an opportunity for growth and reinvention. One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned is the importance of resilience. In the military, nothing ever goes exactly as planned, and adaptability becomes second nature. Whether it’s responding to logistical challenges across the globe or navigating personal hardships, resilience isn’t just a skill—it’s a mindset. And it’s one I’ll carry forward into civilian life. I’ve also learned that leadership is earned through action, not title. The best leaders I’ve served under were those who led by example, who showed humility and care for their people. They taught me that leadership is about lifting others up and inspiring them to be their best—not about commanding authority. Another lesson is that relationships matter most. It’s easy to get caught up in the grind, the mission, or the task at hand, but what truly lasts are the bonds you build. The Marines I’ve served alongside, the mentors I’ve learned from, and the friends I’ve made—they’re what made the hard times bearable and the good times unforgettable. Finally, transitioning out of the military has taught me the value of identity beyond a uniform. It’s a process of rediscovery, of taking all the lessons, skills, and experiences from my career and figuring out how to apply them to a new purpose. It’s not always easy, but it’s necessary to grow. To anyone currently in the process of transitioning, my advice is simple: Take the time to reflect, prepare, and embrace change. Your service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off—it transforms. I’m incredibly grateful for this chapter of my life and excited to see what the next one brings. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey—especially my family, who’ve sacrificed as much as I have, if not more. Here’s to new beginnings. Semper Fi.

???? The most patriotic week of the year is here! ?? Since 1890, the Army-Navy Game has been more than just football. It’s a tradition, a rivalry, and a celebration of service. America’s Game holds a special place in our hearts, bringing together a rich history of camaraderie and competition. From the ball run and prisoner exchanges (Mids and Cadets returning home for the game) to the spirited Army-Navy shenanigans (if you know, you know), the week is packed with unforgettable traditions. But one of my absolute favorites? Spirit spots. For those unfamiliar, spirit spots are a hallmark of service academy culture: short, often comedic videos designed to rally support and boost morale. I had the honor of creating over 25 of them while serving on active duty as a Midshipman and later as a Civil Engineer Corps officer. When I transitioned off of active duty three years ago, I thought my spirit spot days were behind me. I was wrong. Thanks to the incredible support from Academy Insider, Navy fans, and the larger Navy community, we were able to do something unprecedented: create a high-production-value, fan-funded spirit spot for Navy fans, by Navy fans. After two amazing days of filming aboard the USS Midway, we launched #BIGDECKS just two weeks ago! With a combined 160,000 views (and counting), we’re showing the world - and Army - what Navy fans are all about. For those less familiar with Naval lingo, #BIGDECKS isn’t just a cheeky double entendre; it’s a term used to describe the Navy’s largest and most iconic vessels - like aircraft carriers and amphibious ships. These are the “big decks” that dominate the seas. So, as we gear up for this Saturday’s Army-Navy Game, let’s rally together. If you haven’t seen #BIGDECKS yet, now’s the time: watch it, share it, and spread the word! Let’s unite the Navy fanbase and keep the momentum sailing strong. To celebrate this week, FREE SHIPPING + 15% off with code BEATARMY on all BIG DECKS merch! ?? BIG DECKS - https://lnkd.in/gy2JXezU ?? BIG DECKS Merch (use code BEATARMY for 15% off + FREE SHIPPING) - https://lnkd.in/gMKTuHXX What is your favorite Army-Navy week tradition? Let’s have an incredible Army-Navy week. Military Transition Tip Tuesday! ?????? So you don’t want to be a CEO after the Military…. I’m here to say, that’s totally ok. It’s easy to find yourself getting lost in others accomplishments. You see their titles and the Brand Name company they work for. It’s natural to compare yourself and your journey and wonder if you’re doing it right. ???? Let’s take a step back. Veterans get asked a lot what they want to be when they grow up. It’s easy to feel self conscious about answering this question because what you want to do might not get the most “Likes” when you post or get the reaction others are getting. ??? I’m here to say, we, as in the world, have no right to judge others on their transition plans. ??? I’m also here to say, You, as in just you, can choose any field or job that makes you happy. My daddy got out of the Marine Corps during the drawdown of Nam. He went to the community college and used his GI Bill to get his (at the time) technical degree to be a certified mechanic. My daddy proudly worked on cars. My Pawpaw retired as an E5 in the navy because he didn’t want to deploy anymore. He and his wife built a successful mechanic shop and lived happily. I very proudly grew up a mechanic’s daughter. My pride in their ability to transition into a field that made them happy is immense. I know how to change a fuel pump on my own because of them. Find what makes you Happy in transition and DO THAT. ?? Feel pride in teaching your children a trade you learned. ?? That matters more than likes on a post…. ?? Skills are remembered, posts aren’t. #militarytransition #veteranemployment #wegotthis #bethedifference

Rise and Grind, everyone! Let’s gooo! Nothing great is achieved without sacrifice. It might be your time, effort, or sometimes even family. For most of my military career, I sacrificed family time. When I made the decision to retire, I promised myself I’d spend more time with them. But after transitioning out of the military, I hit a crossroads: “If I want this, I have to do that.” For me, that meant giving up some of that family time again—to build something bigger for the future. When your goals lead you down a path you’re unsure of, ask yourself: What am I willing to sacrifice for the outcome I want? To my fellow transitioning service members: Remember why you’re making the leap. The grass isn’t always greener, and you may have to sacrifice a little now to gain a lot later. A big thank you to Craig Laquerre, who hired me during my transition and helped me work through these crossroads. Your patience and understanding have made all the difference. I also want to give a big thank you to Veteran Service Brands for being such a great company that supports veterans and helping them building their own businesses. It was amazing seeing how much support veterans have at the Annual Conference. #RiseAndGrind #MilitaryTransition #Leadership #SacrificeForSuccess #VeteranJourney #GoalSetting #TransitionToCivilianLife #VeteranSupport #WorkLifeBalance #Gratitude #KeepPushing #SuccessMindset #VeteranLeaders #GrowthMindset #VeteransInBusiness

Have you ever paused to consider the incredible sacrifices made by our veterans? Today, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the veterans who have served our country. Your dedication, courage, and resilience inspire us all. At Premier Business Systems, we recognize that the values instilled in our veterans—leadership, teamwork, and commitment—are the same values that drive our success. ?? ???????????????? ?????????????????? ?????? ?????????????? ???? 11/11 ?? Today holds deep significance for me. It’s 11/11 - a date often associated with alignment and spiritual meaning - but it’s also Veterans Day, a time to honor those who have served and sacrificed for our country. As someone who’s worked with #veterans, I’ve witnessed the resilience, dedication, and strength they bring, not only in service but also in their journeys afterward. This Veterans Day, I want to express my gratitude for the veterans who have inspired me, for their courage and commitment, and for the lessons they continue to teach us about perseverance. 11:11 is often considered an “angel number,” a moment to reflect, set intentions, and focus on what truly matters. THEY KNEW THEY HAD TO GET HER OUT OR ELSE SHE WOULD SURELY DIE Watching the dramatic rescue of a wild horse stuck in deep mud reminded me of our profound responsibility to each other and the creatures we share this world with. The group's determination and teamwork showcased the best of humanity, illustrating how we can overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges through collective effort and compassion. As Marcus Aurelius wisely said, "Humans have come into being for the sake of each other, so either teach them, or learn to bear them." This video serves as a beautiful reminder of our duty to protect and nurture all life around us. Saving lives, whether human or animal, is a testament to our shared humanity. This rescue filled my heart with joy and reinforced the belief that acts of #kindness, no matter how difficult, are always worthwhile. Let's continue to embody this spirit of care and #compassion in our daily lives. Positivity Perks - Honoring Veterans How can you show gratitude to veterans in your life and community? This Is The Thing: To all who have served, we honor your courage and dedication. Veterans are the backbone of our nation's resilience, embodying the strength and commitment that protect our freedoms. Their willingness to put others before themselves reflects an extraordinary level of bravery and sacrifice. As we pause to remember and honor their contributions, let us also recognize the enduring impact of their service on our lives, our communities, and our future. Each veteran's story adds depth to our collective history, reminding us of the value of courage and unity. #HonorOurVeterans I find myself deeply moved by the sacrifices veterans have made. I've come to see that honoring their service goes beyond just a moment of appreciation; it's a call to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy daily and the hard-earned lessons that come with them. Expressing gratitude to veterans, whether through simple gestures or words of appreciation, is one way we can contribute to a culture of respect. To me, their dedication is a reminder of the strength we can all strive to embody in our own lives. #CourageAndDedication So, how can we continue to honor the courage of those who served? It's important to think about how we can incorporate their values of service and commitment into our own lives. By reflecting on their legacy and expressing our gratitude, we uphold their sacrifices and ensure that their contributions continue to inspire us all. #VeteransDay Stay positive, and have an amazing day! #WHAT #ARE #YOUR #THOUGHTS ?? ?? (comment ?? and let me know) . ???? Honoring Service Beyond the “Requirement”: A Call to Our Better Angels . Many people say they are patriotic, yet I’ve noticed that veteran-owned businesses, specifically VOSBs (Veteran-Owned Small Businesses) and SDVOSBs (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses), are often only invited into project teams when it’s “required.” The reality is that honoring our veterans should not be a box to check—it should be a reflection of our core values and commitment to those who served, sacrificed, and, in some cases, returned home with combat injuries. . SDVOSB set-asides were created to recognize the sacrifices of military service members from all branches who risked their lives in times of war. And, more broadly, diversity set-asides honor a complex American history, giving space to disadvantaged and underrepresented groups who have faced systemic barriers. A truly inclusive society acknowledges these experiences and strives to uplift those affected—not only when mandated but because it’s the right thing to do. . I hope my colleagues will listen to their better angels, embracing these values in every project and partnership. Patriotism isn’t just about symbols and words; it’s about acting in support of those who have served and ensuring that the principles of equity and recognition are woven into our actions daily. . Let’s honor and uplift all those who have given so much, not because it’s “required” but because that’s what a good society does. ???? . - Mujeeb Basha, P.E. American Veteran Engineering, PLLC
