As organizations dive into LLM tech, many are grappling with a big challenge: How do we implement these tools in a cost-effective way that doesn’t compromise user experience? There’s a lot of pressure to deliver accurate AI solutions. If a company’s app shares misleading or false info, it can seriously damage their reputation. This not only erodes customer trust but can also lead to lower engagement and hits to the bottom line. On the technical side, things can get tricky too. Hallucinations—when LLMs generate believable but false info—are a real risk. They can undermine the app's reliability and raise serious privacy concerns. Think about it: if a coaching app starts giving advice based on faulty info, the fallout could be huge. That’s why proactive monitoring is essential to navigate the complexities of LLM deployment. Companies like WHOOP and AppFolio are tackling these issues head-on with the help of Datadog's LLM Observability.

Host Generative AI in your own Azure Account There is no doubt that generative AI can make many work tasks more productive. For example software development. But still many companies block access to ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude without offering alternatives. The main concern is that employees paste non-public content into the chat and that the content could be accessed by non-employees. But what is the privacy policy for example for Claude? It is the following: "We do not use your data for training on our public platform. With our self-deployment and cloud channels offerings, we don’t even?see?your input data." See: https://lnkd.in/eizW4MCS What are cloud channels offerings? When you host the Claude model in your own azure account, you can query the model via an API. You will have to build the chat frontend yourself or use an open source solution. See https://lnkd.in/eqP3EXpK

So, Microsoft has just announced that Copilot can now read your screen, think deeper Lol, and even speak aloud. Impressive, right? I’m too skeptical to say at least. With every new feature Microsoft introduces, we seem to be slipping further into an over-engineered, surveillance-heavy ecosystem. 1. Copilot now reads everything on your screen - sure, it sounds helpful, but at what cost? Microsoft has been notorious for questionable data practices, and now, they're asking us to give them even more access? The more Copilot “sees,” the more data Microsoft scoops up for their analytics and ad-driven profits. I don’t know about you, but I’m not handing over my screen to a tech giant that’s already hungry for too much of our private information. 2. Microsoft markets Copilot as the future of productivity, but let’s be real - this is dependency by design that they force on you. Why think critically or manage your own workflow when you can just let Microsoft “think” for you? This isn’t innovation; it’s the creation of AI crutches that are eroding human intelligence and judgment in the name of convenience. 3. I wonder, who asked for this... Does anyone actually need their screen read out loud? And by an AI designed by a company with a terrible track record in customer satisfaction? Microsoft’s relentless push to add features that no one asked for feels like a desperate grab for relevance in the AI race. But instead of fixing core issues in their existing products, they’re busy developing tools that further complicate our digital lives. 4. Letting Copilot “speak aloud” might seem cool until you realize the security implications. Imagine sensitive information being read out loud at the wrong time, in the wrong place. Microsoft doesn’t have the best reputation when it comes to ensuring security and privacy, so why should we trust them with voice-activated tech? Microsoft’s Copilot is just another cog in their monopoly machine, slowly taking more control over our digital lives while giving little in return. It’s not about making things better; it’s about making sure we never stop needing them and giving them our $$$. Would be happy to see someone busting my thought on this topic! ??

The Paradox of Technology. Let's take Microsoft Copilot, for example. Organizations are now in a frenzy, training employees, collecting feedback, and finding the best ways to utilize these tools. When a company like Microsoft releases a game-changing product and makes it available to everyone, everyone starts using it. They must, to stay in the game. But there's no lasting competitive advantage. You gain an edge by moving fast, but in a few years, your competition catches up. This is the paradox of technology. When a tech becomes a publicly available product, any lasting competitive advantage vanishes, especially with products from the big vendors. To gain a lasting edge, you must invest in proprietary assets—custom tech or know-how. Preferably, don't invest in custom technologies for common tasks like processing PDFs or creating presentations. Every enterprise has these needs, making it a crowded space. Also, you don't want to compete with giants like Google, Microsoft, or OpenAI. They have deep pockets and thousands of talented people, while you probably have just a few. The point is: reacting to market changes, like the release of MS Copilot, isn't enough. If you think a tech like AI is strategically important, you need to think proactively and find ways to gain a lasting competitive advantage. This means investing in specific proprietary assets unique to your company.
