On July 19, 2024, MDA convened an unprecedented Muscle Regeneration Summit in Quebec, Canada, bringing together nine advocacy partners AFM-Téléthon, CureDuchenne, Cure Rare Disease, FSHD Society, Jain Foundation Inc, Muscular Dystrophy Australia, THE RYR-1 FOUNDATION, SMA Foundation, and SOLVE FSHD. Together, we focused on new strategies to regenerate muscles affected by advanced muscle weakness and degeneration—an urgent need for people who have already lost significant muscle mass. ? This summit was a critical step in aligning clinicians, investigators, and therapy developers to overcome current hurdles and explore promising new pathways. Key discussions revolved around enhancing the body’s own regenerative capacity, transplanting healthy muscle cells, and improving our collective knowledge of regenerative biology.
