Geologic hydrogen offers strong opportunities for growth in the hydrogen supply network in the US and worldwide

In what is being described as Australia’s largest Series B funding round by a climate tech startup, NSW firm Hysata has secured $172 million to further develop its green energy technology. Its high-efficiency electrolyser is designed to transform how green hydrogen is produced by using less energy to convert water to hydrogen. It is predicted to play a role in the faster decarbonisation of heavy transport, steel making and chemical manufacturing, reports SmartCompany. Hysata will use the funds to expand its Wollongong facility to reach gigawatt-scale manufacturing of its electrolyser and reduce hydrogen costs. The oversubscribed funding round was co-led by the venture arm of bp and Hong Kong-based asset management firm Templewater, each committing $10 million, with other investors including IP Group Australia, Virescent Ventures on behalf of Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Hostplus and TelstraSuper. Announcing the raise on LinkedIn, CEO Paul Barrett said it was exciting to see global recognition for the startup's "gamechanger" tech. “The real measure of success is not the amount raised, but how we use it to make a difference. We have a clear path to deliver world-first electrolyser performance that will produce the lowest cost green hydrogen,” he wrote. Green hydrogen has attracted attention as a clean energy source, with Australian billionaire Andrew Forrest committing $1.14 billion to three projects in Australia and the US, and the federal government recently attributing $1.6 million towards a feasibility study for one of Australia's first large-scale green hydrogen projects in the Kimberley region. Estonian greentech company Stargate Hydrogen bags huge amount of seed funding! Tallinn-based greentech Stargate Hydrogen has completed a successful seed round of €42 million. The round includes an equity investment by UG Investments and grant financing from IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) framework for hydrogen technologies, with the participation from other investors and grants. The company has come up with a green hydrogen technology to fight against climate change in the industries such as steelmaking, fertilizers and chemicals. What new they bring to the table is to count the cost of green energy. The funding will feed their goal to scale up their patented electrolyser technology. Danish startup secures €20M to boost green hydrogen production with 1-MW dynamic electrolyser unit Copenhagen-based Dynelectro has successfully raised €11 million to advance its 1-MW Dynamic Electrolyser Unit (DEU) technology, aimed at accelerating the green hydrogen economy. The funding round saw participation from prominent investors such as Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO), Yara Growth Ventures, Vsquared Ventures, PSV DeepTech, The Footprint Firm. Additionally, Dynelectro secured €9 million in grants through partnerships with industry leaders like Shell and the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA). Norwegian hydrogen technology scaleup attracts investment from India’s leading sustainability VC Trondheim-based hydrogen technology scaleup Hydrogen Mem-Tech has received funding from Peak Sustainability Ventures, based in India, and London’s AP Ventures. Peak’s investment, which secures them a 10.5% stake, is part of a €6.3 million (NOK 75 million) capital raising round that includes contributions from existing investors. The Trondheim-based company specializes in membrane technology for hydrogen extraction from natural and biogas, aimed at improving cost-efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. Koloma, a #startup focused on extracting carbon-free hydrogen from natural underground deposits, has secured $245.7 million in #funding, the round was led by Khosla Ventures and included #investment from Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund and United Airline’s Sustainable Flight #Fund. They join previous cleantech backers including Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy #Ventures and Energy Impact Partners, boosting Koloma’s total funding to more than $300 million. The company, led by CTO and cofounder Tom Darrah, aims to leverage techniques from the oil and gas industry to access hydrogen pockets efficiently. ?Being a highly versatile #energy source, hydrogen plays a crucial role in reducing carbon #emissions across various sectors such as transportation and electricity generation.
