Understanding innovative methods of financing Primary Health Care (PHC) is crucial, along with addressing financing shortfalls to improve PHC service delivery. Successful implementation of reforms to boost funding for PHC and Community Health Systems (CHS) is vital for achieving UHC. Healthcare financing, a fundamental aspect of WHO's health systems framework, plays a central role in strengthening PHC and reaching UHC. It intersects with various other health system components, necessitating funding to ensure effective governance, leadership, recruitment, and retention of health personnel, efficient service delivery, medication and technology procurement, and health information systems enhancement. Prioritizing effectiveness, efficiency, transparency, and accountability in utilizing existing funds is essential for augmenting health financing for PHC. A well-funded PHC approach can proves to be highly cost-effective and yield significant returns on investments in health outcomes. Thus, investing in PHC is crucial for advancing towards UHC and innovative financing mechanisms are integral to achieving UHC.
