The Fayetteville Regional Airport (FAY) is proud to announce the completion of its Phase III renovations, marking the final stage of the main terminal upgrades. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today to celebrate this major milestone. Here’s what’s new: ? Updated gates in the B Concourse ? VIP lounge for distinguished guests ? Expanded seating options ? Additional airline offices and lounges for future partners Since 2017, FAY has been undergoing a transformation funded by $61 million in federal and state grants. These improvements have enhanced passenger experience with new jet bridges, expanded facilities, upgraded security areas, improved baggage claims, and more. Looking ahead, the airport will break ground on an international arrivals facility in 2026. This project will initially support military travel and aims to expand into international commercial flights in the future. We're expecting more than 1.3 million travelers at JFK International Airport this week, and record travel + peak redevelopment construction = congested roadways! We urge travelers to avoid driving directly to airport terminals. Take the subway or the train - AirTrain JFK is just 20 minutes from NY Penn, Grand Central, or Atlantic Terminal via the LIRR! If you must drive, use the free Pick-Up and Drop-Off Lot at the Lefferts Blvd AirTrain station. "Not only are we at peak construction, but we are handling record numbers of passengers," said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. "We are working round-the-clock to make sure that getting to and from JFK goes as smoothly as possible. And in less than two years, when the first new terminals open and the new road network is complete, travelers will see that the pain was worth the gain." At the risk of sounding like a broken record... ONT just broke another record! More than 652,000 passengers flew through our airport in June. That’s up 16.7%, or some 34,000 passengers, from May’s total. It’s also the highest number we’ve seen since transitioning to local ownership in 2016. And for context, it's more than the populations of Anaheim and Riverside, two of So Cal's biggest cities, combined! We’re closing in on our all-time record of 693,000 passengers, which was set in August 2007. Cape Air in ???? This can be explained in several ways. Let’s unpack it. Cape Air operates in regions such as New England ??, the Midwest ??, Montana ??, and the Mid-Atlantic…flights between small airports and major hubs (#Boston, St. Louis, etc.). While one part of the trip (takeoff or landing) is typically in a larger city/airport, the other is not - meaning naturally less infrastructure and snow preparedness (de-icing planes, preparing runways, luggage handling in inclement weather, and so on). Safety is important - better to delay or cancel than incur unnecessary risks, especially when operating smaller aircraft. #Caribbean: Provides service to islands such as Puerto Rico ????, the U.S. Virgin Islands ????, and other destinations. #Micronesia ????: Operates flights in partnership with United Airlines in Guam ???? and surrounding islands. Business Model: Specializes in Essential Air Service (#EAS) routes, subsidized by the U.S. government to ensure air service to rural communities. This recognition is particularly noteworthy for a "non-towered" airport and mirrors the vibrant growth within Johnston County. As newly appointed JNX Airport Director Dave Harris will attest, the impact of a general aviation airport on a local community cannot be overstated. It plays a pivotal role in job creation, fostering business growth, promoting tourism, and supporting essential services such as air ambulance operations like Duke Life Flight, search and rescue missions, and agricultural activities. These functions generate substantial economic activity, encompassing industries like aircraft maintenance, fuel sales, and pilot training services exemplified by Blue Line Aviation.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has unveiled an ambitious “vision plan” to transform Newark Liberty International Airport, aiming to elevate it from its long-standing reputation as one of the nation’s least appealing airports to a “world-class” status. The announcement, made inside the newly opened $2.7 billion Terminal A, sets the tone for this ambitious project. Terminal A, along with recent upgrades to La Guardia Airport, exemplifies the modernization efforts the agency aspires to bring across Newark Liberty. Key components of the plan include replacing the deteriorating Terminal B, which has served travelers for over five decades and often relied on temporary solutions like portable toilets. Additionally, the outdated AirTrain, which has been the airport’s backbone for connecting terminals, parking, and commuter trains, will be upgraded, though specifics on its new route remain uncertain due to the upcoming Terminal B’s location. With the AirTrain replacement estimated at over $2 billion, this is a critical part of the airport’s overhaul. Rick Cotton, the executive director of the Port Authority, emphasized the importance of planning for peak travel times, referencing lessons learned during La Guardia’s reconstruction, which kept the airport operational despite challenges like traffic jams that left some passengers scrambling. The vision plan aims to avoid similar issues at Newark Liberty, with improvements to the airport’s often confusing layout, dubbed the “spaghetti of roads.” Newark Liberty’s revitalization includes plans for a more accessible airport that better serves local New Jersey communities, shifting the narrative from being New York City’s secondary gateway to becoming a central hub for New Jersey.
