“Measure twice, cut once”. Here’s a sustainable business with a difference. Life size Plans Leinster use projection technology to provide you with a real-life walkthrough of your home or commercial building plans, revealing potential issues that otherwise typically reveal themselves during (or after) construction. Identifying and resolving issues at the planning stage with a walkthrough setting avoids the costs and stress of re-work - and importantly avoids the associated waste of resources from re-work. Well done to John Foley and Emma Foley for bringing this innovative solution to Ireland.
It is always a pleasure to welcome award-winning architect and founding partner of Douglas Wallace Consultants Hugh Wallace to Lifesize Plans Leinster with his clients. Looking forward to welcoming him back soon. #bringyourplanstolife #lifesizeplansleinster #rightfirsttime #selfbuildireland

This looks like a really interesting event! I'm so curious about the role interior lighting plays in bird collisions! For buildings with 24 hour occupancy where we can't turn the lights off at night, what can we do to help? During the day, should we be increasing the light at the perimeter of buildings to reduce reflections? #birdsafebuildings #lightingdesign #sustainability
A building isn't sustainable until it's bird friendly. Migratory birds live in and pass through our urban areas, making them critical habitats. PDX Airport’s New 9 Acre Wood Roof….As if It Were Grown There | Jacob Dunn Imagine a building that not only enhances its environment — but looks like it grew there! Sounds like something from a fantasy movie? Not anymore. Jacob Dunn, a visionary in sustainability-focused architecture, shares the transformative story behind the redesign of PDX Airport's new main terminal, featuring a 9-acre mass timber roof, forest-like shading, and an array of living trees. This project is not just a renovation — it's a reimagining of how buildings interact with their natural surroundings and impact their local and regional ecosystems. Through unprecedented transparency in sourcing from native and small-holder properties, every piece of wood used is traceable back to its origin, showcasing a profound level of accountability and connection to the land. Jacob emphasizes that this level of detail and dedication to sustainability isn't reserved for monumental projects like airports. He’s inspiring and equipping architects and builders everywhere, regardless of project size, to adopt similar practices. This initiative is about making sustainable, traceable sourcing the norm, not the exception, in how we build. Explore how the PDX renovation project is crafting a future where architecture and nature exist in harmony. ?? Watch the full talk now on YouTube https://lnkd.in/gntDmdpn Let us know your key takeaways from Jacob's talk in the comments below.

The Kendeda Building: Part 3 - Take the tour! I hope you have enjoyed our three part series on this incredible building. The value of these cutting edge projects to me is more than showcasing best practices and offering lesson's learned. They are the shining beacon of what success looks like when the whole is truly greater than the sum of the parts. We are in the middle of transforming our built environment to be regenerative. Most of the buildings we are building and renovating now are both better than where we have come from and not as good as where we want to go. We have to embrace that messiness as we continue the transformation and keep perspective that the mid-way efforts don't gain all the benefits of the more mature approach. Where we are now: [fossil fueled, energy intensive, low performing buildings] -> -> -> (the messy middle we are in now) -> -> -> [renewably energized, efficient, regenerative buildings] The Kendeda Building to me embodies this more mature approach to regenerative building practices. The ethos of regeneration pervades the project, it is palpable in the experience of the space, and as you peel back the layers of the project you find more and more ways in which it was a humble steward of its local environment. This video tour is extremely well produced and I encourage you to watch it all the way through to the great bloopers at the end! https://buff.ly/4e2mE5e
