Great front page story in today's Los Angeles Times by Jessica Garrison, touting the dangers of a local community having no objective, local media outlets to report the news. I've always sung the praises of local media for multiple reasons: 1?? It's the best way for local residents to get news about their local community. 2?? Very likely, no other media is going to cover local stories such as city council and school board races, hometown heroes, or community events such as children's story time at the library or the annual car show. Social media notwithstanding, people do rely on their local newspapers for information. 3?? Civic engagement depends on a well informed citizenry. It's much harder to get local news about your town if there's no media to cover it. 4?? In times of crisis, the local media may be the only ones who can get to the story and report to residents in real time. Harken back to the tiny local outlet, Lookout Santa Cruz, which won a Pulitzer for helping residents navigate rainstorms and flash flooding: https://lnkd.in/gCETiicm 5?? From a media coverage standpoint, placing stories in local media is much easier than placing stories in bigger regional and national media. And that coverage gets read by the people who matter to the story. Those local stories can sometimes even be parlayed into coverage by the bigger media. I've asked this before and I'll ask it again: Does your community have a local paper and if so, do you read it? Link to LA Times article in comments below. #mediarelations #localnews #publicrelations

These are lovely. Not just for the brand and category. But for viewers to see themselves as one who, one day, will want the best care for themselves or a loved one. The spot invites better understanding and respect for people on the back half of mid-life. As much as hiring managers and social platforms focus on Gen Z, Millennials, and consumers-to-be, I’m happy to see creative that resonates up and down the age continuum. A reminder to all, that age is just a number. And there’s room for all of us to be active, vibrant participants at every stage of life. There’s a world of knowledge, experience, storytelling and spending power in the often overlooked category of 50+. Aegis Living gets it. And LHoS just proved they do too. #midlife #targetaudience #sandwichgeneration #genX #marketing #brandpositioning #advertising
Our new partners at Aegis Living told us they wanted to run as far from the senior living category as possible…AND THEY ACTUALLY MEANT IT! As Tim Nudd at Ad Age puts it, the work “is fresh for the category, eschewing the usual imagery of smiling seniors on pickleball courts and instead presenting aging as something that’s happening to all of us, all the time.” Thanks to all our partners Dwayne J. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 14, 2024 / Harris-Walz 2024 Presidential Campaign Talking Points - NEW AD: Mesa Mayor John Giles Calls on Fellow Arizona Republicans to Back VP Harris “We have to have an adult in the White House - that’s why I’m supporting Kamala Harris.” Ad Builds on Historic Outreach to Republican and Independent Voters and Endorsements from former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, former Arizona Senator Jeff Flake, and more than 120 current and former Republicans in Arizona In a new ad from the Harris-Walz campaign, Mesa Mayor John Giles, a lifelong Republican and the Arizona Republicans for Harris Advisory Committee Chair, speaks directly to voters about why he is supporting Vice President Kamala Harris for president. “I’m a lifelong Republican, but I’ve always put country over party,” Mayor Giles says. “And I know Donald Trump’s second term would be all about himself. That’s why, like so many other Republicans, I cannot support Donald Trump. Kamala Harris and I may not agree on everything, but I do know that she will always put country first.” Part of Team Harris-Walz’s historic $370 million advertising reservations between Labor Day and Election Day, “Cities” will begin airing today on local broadcast and cable programming like Fire Country, Shark Tank, and Chopped, as well as networks like Fox News Channel – home to programming like Fox & Friends First and The Five. This new ad blitz is a part of Team Harris-Walz’s efforts to reach Republican and Independent voters. In August, the Arizona Harris-Walz campaign launched the Republicans for Harris-Walz Advisory Committee which has grown to more than 120 members who are focused on electing Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. The Arizona Advisory Committee is part of the national Republicans for Harris grassroots organizing coalition focusing on outreach efforts to the millions of disaffected Republican voters nationwide who are ready to turn the page on the darkness and divisiveness of Donald Trump and chart a New Way Forward for the country. Last week, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz campaigned in Arizona with Mayor Giles, John McCain’s son Jimmy, and other members of the Arizona Republicans for Harris-Walz, and Vice President Harris announced her plan to form a President’s Council on Bipartisan Solutions that will include Republican and Democratic public officials and business and community leaders to recommend practical policy ideas to help improve Americans’ lives. ###

In honor of #SunshineWeek March 10 - 16, Jennifer Bertetto, PNA Board of Directors chairwoman and president & CEO of Trib Total Media has prepared an exclusive op-ed for #PNA. Visit https://lnkd.in/d8_29at to read it and explore Sunshine Week resources. When #journalists emphasize the importance of the #SunshineAct, some people might think we’re seeking special favors or a particular privilege – that we’re looking for more ways to “get dirt.”?Nothing could be further from the truth, and here’s why: The Sunshine Act is about preserving public access to public information from public bodies. It’s about journalists acting on the public’s behalf to make information known. That is what we do every day, seven days a week. We go to borough council meetings and school board sessions and water authority hearings while you’re busy living your life. Then we tell you all about it. It’s in our job description. Continue reading with the link below.
