When I started studying investing in art, it was crazy to invest in it. Art is now widely recognized as a financial asset, and collectors regularly seek investment advice. Today's art market offers unique opportunities. Post-COVID adjustments have created balanced, sustainable conditions, making it an ideal time for investment. Key investment avenues include art funds and private collections. Art funds have seen annual returns averaging 8-12% over the past decade, providing a lucrative option for investors. Art fairs like Art Basel, featuring over 285 top galleries, offer promising artworks, while private sales provide exclusive access to fresh-to-market pieces often appreciating by 15-20% annually. ?????? ?????? ??????? Current market conditions present prime opportunities to acquire high-quality art at realistic prices.

Koyo Kouoh’s appointment as the Director of the Visual Arts Department for the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia is a significant milestone, not only for Cape Town and women in the arts industry, but also for the ongoing reconfiguration of power and representation in the global art world. As Executive Director and Chief Curator of Zeitz MOCAA, Kouoh has consistently demonstrated how art can serve as both a mirror and a tool for societal change, blending curatorial excellence with bold political activism. Through her leadership at Zeitz MOCAA, she has redefined what it means to center African and diaspora voices in the global arts landscape, carving out spaces for stories that challenge, provoke, and inspire. This appointment reflects a growing recognition of the intellectual and political frameworks African leaders bring to global cultural institutions. Kouoh’s trajectory exemplifies how female leadership can reshape institutions—not through adaptation to established norms, but by challenging and redefining them. Her career reminds us that art is not just a medium of beauty but a weapon of resistance and transformation, capable of shaping the narratives of history and the futures we imagine. Her role at La Biennale will undoubtedly extend this impact, positioning art as a site of both reflection and action in an increasingly polarized world. #ArtAndSociety #LeadershipInTheArts #ZeitzMOCAA #KoyoKouoh #LaBiennaleDiVenezia

The Milk od Dreams, curated by Cecilia Alemani, Biennale 2022. Rethinking exhibition models of the Venice Biennale: from globalization to the most recent form of decolonization. Course online 18.02- 06.03.25 Deadline for applying: 06.02.2025 www.corsocuratori.com This workshop online provides an immersive and active understanding of curatorial practice and its developments in the last decades. Through the work of some of the most remarkable curators, the students will develop an understanding of how curating works by looking back at its history and by examining certain case studies. The analysis of specific editions of the Venice Art Biennale will give us the possibility to look to the predecessors and the influences of specific curators on their work. But it is also an opportunity to explore the ways in which the curatorial practices are changing and examine increasingly diverse approaches to exhibition-making.? The objectives of the workshop: To gain familiarity with different types of models of curatorial practices and evaluate the essential qualities of a strong curator through understanding the historical and contemporary role of the curator in relation to past and recent exhibition models.? During the course we will start from the globalization trends of the early 1990s and 2000, and move on to the last decade when the theme of decolonization has become increasingly urgent at the Venice Biennale. The relationship between the rest of the world and the West, and thus of social and cultural redemption, is present in a sometimes obsessive but inevitable manner in numerous editions of the Venice Biennale and especially in certain pavilions.? #venicebiennale #curatorialmodels #arthistory #curating

As an art curator, one of the essential techniques I employ is establishing symmetry within the exhibition. In my current exhibition, "Unveiling the Journey: The Art of Duncan Ebedes," symmetry has been thoughtfully integrated as a curatorial approach. But why is symmetry so impactful? Here are three key benefits that visitors experience when symmetry is used in the display layout of artwork: 1?? Enhanced Visual Harmony: Symmetry creates a balanced environment, allowing visitors to connect more deeply with the art without distraction. The flow of the exhibition feels natural and cohesive. 2?? Improved Navigation: A symmetrical layout guides visitors effortlessly through the space. It creates a rhythm that makes the journey through the exhibition intuitive and enjoyable. 3?? Elevated Emotional Impact: Symmetry can evoke a sense of calm and order, enabling a more profound emotional response to the artwork. This intentional arrangement helps amplify the stories each piece tells. In "Unveiling the Journey," symmetry isn’t just a design choice—it’s a tool to deepen the connection between the art and its audience. If you've not yet seen visited the virtual exhibition, take a look here: https://lnkd.in/euZHEgvb Q: Have you used symmetry within your curatorial practice, did it work?
